my friend's daughter had one last night..they went to the ER at midnight and got home by 6am. that's crazy. when I had my appendix out I was in the hospital for 3 days.

probably a lot less invasive now. much smaller scar, etc...
Also, they can't make the big bucks off of a new patient when you're just laying there getting well.

Less chance for one of those new-fangled nasty infections that are all the rage these days.
They just make two or three small incisions, insert the laproscopy tubes, snip, pull, sew, and they are done..
I had my gall bladder removed the same way - in and out before noon.

I had my gallbladder out that way too...my appendectomy was in 1985, so a lot different.

The only reason I stayed overnight for my appendectomy is because I was admitted at 4pm. My surgery was at 7 am and I was home by 11am

:)I don't think they do any surgery there. Thank goodness. Can you imagine if they did? "Honey while you're getting your gallbladder removed I'm gonna be over here by the 50% off Valentine's candy."

alot depends on if it's ruptured also
