to be President?

I thought Homey had a piece on this and where our Presidents came from before being elected i.e Senate, HoR, Governorships, Vice Presidents etc.

But a lot them weren't Senators at the time. JFK was the last one to go from the Senate directly to the White House.

The last two Senators who made the leap to the White House were, JFK in 1960 and Warren G. Harding in 1920. Both died in office in the latter half of their first and only term. As you know, JFK got shot, and as you might not have known, WGH died of a massive heart attack. Both were personally popular with the folks, but neither accomplished anything of substance while in office.

Wait, didn't JFK have a love child?

EDIT: The child was born two months after the inauguration...so conception was as a Senator. JFK loved to pass that torch!
