for a solo for our Good Friday service. It's Pie Jesu by Andrew Lloyd Webber and if you've heard it, you'll know that it's a lot for a young kid. If anyone can do it, he can because he absolutely loves being on stage and he's a talented singer (for a munchkin) but I've gotta say I'm concerned.

Go for it. Even if he's not perfect on it, everyone will think he's adorable.

Sometimes music isn't about performing with precise perfection. Sometimes it's about doing it like you mean it.

Holy crap...if he can pull that off, I'd be greatly impressed.

Nobody has done it lately.

you should be, because you obviously aren't the father that contributed 32 genes to the child ;)

Hmmm. That is true. I've got an extra chromosome that he doesn't have. But that still puts me +1 on all of you suckers.

Great Song/Good Job! Maybe he'll be the future male Charlotte Church equivalent.

You do know that Down Syndrome is caused by an extra chromosome, right?

I WAS going to go with the whole "Your boy is going to be singing showtunes in front of an audience" thing until you wrote that. ;)

Seriously, though, encourage it. Sounds like your son is very talented. Congratulations.

Never heard of it so I looked it up. A bunch of latin mumbo jumbo. Can your kid sing latin?

no doubt.

I did the same thing.1 minute was sufficient for me.

Well, he can sing the words although we'll have to discuss what they mean in English. It's kind of funny - our Good Friday service is going to sound a lot like a Catholic mass even though we're non-denominational Protestant.

1) Pie Jesu (Latin)
2) Ubi Caritas (Latin)
3) Mozart's Requiem (Latin w/ the usual Greek Kyrie)
4) Pieta (English - yay!)

Yes, that was intended to be a bit of self-deprecating humor. I apologize to anyone who is close to someone with Down Syndrome.

Ah, gotcha. It was too subtle for me.

Which isn't surprising. Much is.

Mozart's Requiem? I hope they've got a good second trombone for the Tuba Mirum.

We're only doing Requiem, Kyrie and Lacrymosa.

That's pretty cool you're doing a Mr. Mister tune.

Yeah, our church is pretty hip. I forgot to add Chaka Khan's I Feel for You to the list.

Ah.

His Coronation Mass in C is pretty good, too.
