View Full Version : I don't think I've ever tried Sam Adams

When I get over this bug (mycoplasma - you don't want none of that) I want to try a few more beers. I've begun a spree to taste many different brands of beer until I find a new favorite. I've always been partial to the lighter (both in taste and color) lagers. Of all the Samual Adams, which one does SO recommend?

Try the Winter Lager. Tres yummy.

That will be what I start with, thanks.

I guess I'll have to finish my anti-biotics. Hell, it'll be March

You're not supposed to mix beer with antibiotics?

I normally ignore any 'don't mix with alcohol' warnings on medice (which probably isn't very smart)..

But I really...really....really want to get over this bug.

I like the regular Boston Lager, the Cherry Wheat is interesting every once in awhile. I typically prefer ambers over the lighter lagers.

Sam Adams Light is a good one too. You really can't go wrong with anything Sam Adams (and I have been drinking a few).

Winter Lager, Oktoberfest, Boston Ale, and Scotch Ale are the best from Sam Adams. Do NOT drink the Honey Porter, it tastes like the sweat from Dean's railroad spike ravaged taint.

The Sam Adams Light, Winter Lager, Summer Ale, Boston Lager, Boston Ale, and Oktoberfest were all good. The only one i did not like was the regular Sam Adams. I can't wait to try the rest.

That's it. That's what mycoplasma looks like. I have millions of them, and they are extremely tiny. parasitic little bast*rds.

Sam Adams is pretty good.

But it's not Sam's picture on the bottle.

Heh.

You're putting John Hancock in your mouth.

When I get over this bug (mycoplasma - you don't want none of that)...
You sure did use a bunch of faincy words to say that you have the monia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mycoplasma). Don't try to act like I didn't know what I was talking about.

Mycoplasma is a genus of bacteria that lack a cell wall. Because they lack a cell wall, they are unaffected by some antibiotics such as penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics that target cell wall synthesis. They can be parasitic or saprophytic. Several species are pathogenic in humans, including M. pneumoniae, which is an important cause of atypical pneumonia and other respiratory disorders...

unless your antibiotics are one of the following, you're in the clear:

Metronidazole
Tinidazole
furazolidone (Furoxone)
griseofulvin (Grisactin)
Antimalarial Quinacrine (Atabrine)

if you like lighter beers, you probably won't like any of the Samuel Adams flavors

I haven't tried all of them, but all the ones I have tried aren't very light in flavor

one of their seasonal beers is the best, Sam Adams White...it's a spring only beer and it's their best IMO. Should come out in March. It's teh win.

oh, and White Ale is pretty light in flavor. Not as hoppy as most of the SA stuff.

I really like Sam Adams Light. Sam Adams out of the tap is ok, but out of the bottle is a little to much for my particular liking.

Also, to DoLEo, I finally tried Pacifico this past weekend, and it is teh win.

A real man would drink this SA product.

$200 a bottle, if you can find it. ($300 on ebay is typical)

Never even seen it actually. Don't think any of the distributors here in OK have gotten this stuff.

The likelihood of me paying $300 for a bottle of beer is about the same as you not staring at Dean's *** at the tailgates.

Sam Adams has a great oktoberfest beer, but you'll have to wait on that.

Another great beer, but hard to find is Arrogant Bastard Ale

I was going to suggest that you skip the Sam Adams and instead get ya some Doublewide IPA from Boulevard.

Then I remembered you're in Oklahoma and probably can't get it. And I laughed.

Then I remembered I'm in Washington and can't get it either. And I was sad. :(

Sam Adams Light indeed is a great choice.

Even though you mentioned just Sam Adams, another good LIGHT way to go is Bob Stoops beer of choice....Michelob Ultra.

I had this beer - Mississippi Mud 'Black and Tan' and really enjoyed it. I found it in a liquor store in Crescent, Ok (way back when). I have not seen it around here.

Only if you're a *****. ;)

My favorite style of beer is American Pale Ale with IPA as a close runner up so I love hops. Personally, I don't think Sam Adams is all that hoppy at all, it's too malty IMO.

really? that's not good.

I always take it on schedule and finish the whole bottle. Heck. I even take it with a full glass of water. I know about the oral contraceptive interaction. As God is my witness, I've never heard a beer warning.

Am I gonna grow gills or something? Cuz that would actually be kind of cool.

I'm kind of partial to the cherry wheat right now. They've got a dunkel weisen(sp) coming out that's good stuff. Got to try it on our brewery tour last fall.

It was OK. That's the third different beer I've tried from those guys and they all have a kind of "funk" about them. It's a big part of all their beers and you either love it or hate it. I haven't gotten to the "I love it" stage yet.
