I just got an email from the Wynn Las Vegas...I get a free night there on March 30th. Soooo...I'm taking the wife there on the 29th, staying at Caesars before moving up the Strip on the 30th. And I just scored 1st class tix on Delta for $378 per person.

Jealous? Thought so! ;)

Anything good as far as restaurants at Caesars or Wynn?

Man, there's good restaurants all over Vegas. Just throw a rock. After the huge security guys let you off the ground, go try the restaurant you hit.

Wynn is as slick as it gets. Not my personal favorite but it's amazing.

Okada for sushi is amazing. Best I've ever had in Vegas.

Dinner at the Country Club looking out over the golf course is a welcome escape from the strip views/bustle.

At Caeser's in the new wing of the Forum Shops, third floor... there's an Italian food place called "Il Mulino.".. a branch of the one in NY. Food is UNBELIEVABLE!

On the same level, there's a great sashimi/sushi place called Sushi Roku.. again.. Rocks my flippin' face off!

Vegas has been the Mrs.'s and my place...particularly the Bellagio. But we're working our way northward on the Strip and haven't eaten at too many places north of Flamingo Rd.

...and she doesn't gamble.
...and she doesn't smoke.
...and we both HATE Branson.

For a thread about Wynn, this is strangely full of fail.

Take her to see "Defending The Caveman" at The Nugget. It's a can't-miss winner for a couple to go see.

IF we make it downtown...
There's really not much to see there except the Fremont Street Experience (seen it twice...Bellagio's fountains are better). Other than that, all you can do is gamble.

You're paying almost $800 to fly to people two people to Vegas? Its a two and half hour flight. Does "First Class" include oral sex from the flight attendant?

I bet you're not in for the crappy typo in the above sentence. STUPID NYQUIL!

Yes...I did. Especially since it's a 4 hour flight from Atlanta going and coming! And this is my wife's Valentine's day gift.

Vegas is terrible, but there are some great restaurants. If you're not stuck on staying with places in Caesar's and Wynn, I can tell you about a couple of places we enjoy:
1) craftsteak in MGM- Tom Colicchio's place. Great atmosphere, not ridiculously overpriced (as long as you stay away from the wine list) Really a nice place.
2) Delmonico Steakhouse (http://www.venetian.com/DELMONICO.aspx) - Emeril's place in the Venetian. the food is excellent, but the atmosphere is a little stuffy for my taste. as with all of Emeril's places, the service is top notch.
3) Enoteca San Marco (http://www.venetian.com/ENOTECA.aspx) - Mario Batali's place in the Venetian. More casual than the other two, it's up in the shops and most of the seating is out in the square. Good antipasti, pizzas and other italian fare.
4) STACK (http://www.mirage.com/dining/fine_dining_stack.aspx)- In the Mirage. Kind of middle of the road steakhouse. I really liked the atmosphere and the food and it's a step down price wise from the first two on the list.

Other standbys that we visit every time we're around : Carnegie Deli (Mirage, especially for breakfast. mmmm, chees blintzes and salami omelets), 'wichcraft (MGM, fancy sandwiches), Spice Market Buffet (Planet Hollywood, the best affordable buffet with great seafood and india food)

I know there are more, and when I think of them I'll post them.

Honestly, we ate there about 4 years ago. I really enjoyed it, but a lot can change.

JohnnyMack

I think I was there like 2 years ago and you're right, stuff can slide downhill quick in that town. Every time a new casino opens with all its new restaurants the attention span of the Vegas visitor goes with it and what were good places to eat often slip into obscurity and then become 2nd rate for no good reason.

Although I still love to go to the Border Grill at Mandalay and sit outside drinking margaritas/beer and eating their food.

The one's we loved on our honeymoon were Olives at the Bellagio, Battista's Hole In the Wall (on Flamingo Road, across from Ballys) and Top of the World at the Stratosphere.

UPDATE:

Being bored outta my mind up here in Spokane, I went on a mini-spending spree and decided to spoil my HAWT (old) lady!
She's now getting r/t limo service from the airport to Caesars and from the Wynn to the airport.
She's getting dinner at Aureole (in Mandalay Bay) that Saturday night followed by tickets to see Mamma Mia.
She's getting dinner at Picasso (in the Bellagio) that Sunday night followed by two tickets to see O!

Any recommendations for what to have at Aureole or Picasso?
TIA.

Staying there is nice but you have to play the golf course there as it is awesome and the best in Vegas IMHO.

True dat.

Make sure you show up early enough, or stay long enough afterwards to spend some time doing that.

Well, since we're seeing Mamma Mia beforehand, it'll have to be after the show/dinner.
