How can you tell from that trailer if it's going to be any good at all? I'm pretty sure with a couple thousand dollars, I could've pulled that off.

Its a JJ abrams movie. 20 bucks says the enterprise crashes on an island inhabited by a polar bear, and spock gets attacked by a giant monster. And its filmed entirely on a camera phone. But at the end, you can see Shatner in the background pulling the enterprise out of the ocean.

how could you possibly make that conclusion from that trailer. i'm not saying it's untrue....but, the trailer is nothing except a logo, mandatory construction on the new Enterprise, and JJ Abrams name, and "coming soon".

I hate that it's going back in time. I can't stand it when they do that. That's why I never watched Enterprise.

plus, Syler is a weenie. not as big a weenie as Mohinder, but a weenie nonetheless.

I was hoping they would get the DS9 or Voyager crews involved in the new movie.

DS9 blew. Hard.

Voyager, however, was excellence.

Wha? Is it opposite day in here?

DS9 rocked. Avery Brooks was a badass. The last season or so when they went all Messianic with him was dumb.

Voyager blew. The show had a couple of redeeming characters, but that was about it.

Voyager got pwnt by Farscape.

I don't get that trailer. Apparently, they're building it on the ground? If so, how do they propose to get it into orbit? I watched a reasonable amount of Trek by most non-dork standards, and I never saw the Enterprise within the atmosphere of the Earth or any other planet, only in orbit or moving through space. Am I missing something?

And, I'm not suggesting that I'm not a dork. I was just never a huge Star Trek dork.

They probably just realized they'd have to come up with more than welding and voiceovers.

Now they have 5 months to figure out a way to get Shatner in the movie.

I just assume that they're building it up in spacedock...which then rasies the question "Where did they build the spacedock?"

hell, they can build stuff in space even now.

So...they built shuttles to take them up into space and build the spacedock so they could build the Enterprise in the spacedock?

This is why Trek can suck it. Never trust any franchise that can't think to put heat shields and landing gear on a spaceship. :D

I was thinking that same thing. One of the first Trek movies showed the new Enterprise being outfitted in one before they drove off.

But if you look closely at that trailer, it looks pretty much like there is city in the background. Also all of the sparks from the cutting and welding are falling to the ground, which wouldn't happen in zero gravity. Oh, and while I know that a sealed space dock might allow them to forgo breathing apparatus when welding on the outside of the ship, I felt like the costuming was a little out of place for space construction workers. Looked more like earthbound workers to me.

Technically speaking, the Enterprise was constructed at the Utopia Planitia starship construction yards which, I believe, are in the orbit of Mars.

Yes, I knew that at the top of my head....sadly.

Wrong. The Enterprise-D was built at Mars. Kirk's boat was build in San Fransisco.

Why does the welder dood look like he should be in a madonna vid? Makes no sense. They don't have better gear (I don't know how many) hundreds of years from now? And yeah, that trailer proves nothing about it being good to me.
