My aunt lives in Daytona and tries like hell to get out of town this week each year. She wasn't too fortunate this year.

...the only crash I ever watched at Daytona was the one that killed Earnhardt. :(

The only way I watch is if I'm in the mood for a nap.

Live NASCAR: a hell of a lot more exciting than I expected. Televised NASCAR: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Agreed.

Actual racing (F1, IRL, etc) is even more exciting in person.

Yes - if there are races to be seen they are:

Daytona 500
Both Talladega races
Bristol night race
All the Memorial Day Charlotte Stuff, including the 600
Martinsville - just because I've been to so many of those

....and it's the "Day-toner five hunnert."

Get it straight.

I watched Daytona a few weeks ago, they had most of the Rolex 24 Hours on Speed-HD.

Will not watch, have not watched since NASCAR became all corporate and overdone.

Generally speaking, you're right on the last part...

...except when it comes to restrictor-plate racing.

Let's just hope that if a wreck breaks out behind the leaders on the final lap, Nascar realizes they have rules in place for safety reasons and chooses to heed those rules, unlike what they did last year.

Very true and with the new cars(COT)they actually provide some pretty good racing, i'm shocked about that honestly.
Did they change the restrictor plate size for Daytona or is it the same they ran at Dega? nobody seems to have the answer to that but it seems to me that nobody really has an edge with the exception of Jr, even the Dodge boys can run with the Hendrick mob.

Hell yes i'm watching, in 29yrs of watching Nascar i've missed 7 yrs of the 500.

Yes, i'm addicted. :D

But in my defense, let me add that most anything with speed captivates me examples being a quarter horse darting to the finish line/F1/powerboats/sprint cars/ALMS/superbikes/NHRA pro stocks-Top Fuel-Funny Cars/Adrian Peterson heading to the endzone.....ya get my point. ;)

Oh yeah, another thing that made me quit watching was all the cars looking exactly the same. I liked it when I could actually tell which ones were Chevy, Ford, Pontiac and so on.

To my knowledge, the plates are bigger (http://www.hendrickmotorsports.com/news_detail.asp?id=1927).
