I dunno...I gave Augeri a shot and was impressed, so I guess he deserves a shot.

Y'alls thoughts?

dude has a voice

but you know if you're really upset that Steve Perry isnt the lead singer anymore, they still have the original cd's for sale.....just sayin

I've got em all...including the three they released prior to Steve Perry.

I'm just concerned that they're trying too hard to hang onto Steve Perry's legacy.

Hmmm...Jeff Scott Soto wasn't available again?

Scott D

Soto's got his own gig going on now, not bigtime but moderately successful.

He'll always be a Viking to me circa the Yngwie days.

his wife still listens to 45s of Glenn Miller because it was risky for her age group to have them according to her parents.

jk, funny you should mention that. She and I actually like just about the same types of music. She's not that into Rush, though, and is only going with me to the concert in OKC as pennance for leaving the one in San Antonio last August EARLY cause she was tired.

there's a joke there...about being tired early

but i'm not going to make it

nope

SoonerStormchaser
2/7/2008, 03:10 PM
Come on, left that one wide open for you, let me have it!

(for the record: she was tired cause she was in the middle of her second m/c, and I was surprised that she still wanted to go to the concert with me)

Probably just worried about missing the Early Bird Special.

See, you left it open in one direction, but I went the other way entirely.

I never liked Journey as much after Greg Rolie left. THAT'S how old school I roll.

I always thought the Journey Behind The Music special was greatness. Steve (not an orig member) drives out a couple of original members of the band, then when Steve goes on hiatus- hurts his back and throat, the remaining members toss him. He then has the nerve to say WTF?? classic

BigRedJed

They were at their creative zenith when Perry and Rolie were spitting vocals. The pre-Perry stuff had flashes of greatness, but in a sortof inaccessible jazz-fusion way. In retrospect, it was probably all of the tension from Perry being shoved down the orginal band members' throats, but they made some sweet tunes.

I think Jonathan Cain was really the kiss of death for them, though. His songwriting was/is so damn sappy.

Shon is obviously just in it for the caysh at this point.

I saw Steve Perry at the Burbank airport a few years ago. That dude is short.

BigRedJed
2/7/2008, 08:35 PM
'cause you can spot 'em a mile away after all of your years hanging out at Angles?

C&CDean
2/7/2008, 08:38 PM
Yeah, that's it. Of course it'd be funnier if I even knew WTF Angles was. I'm assuming it's a watering hole dedicated to people who think Journey rocked. Am I correct in this assumption?

heh

In all seriousness, I just never got into Journey. I can handle one or two of their songs, but overall, I have to give them a solid D+ or so.

SoonerStormchaser
2/7/2008, 08:47 PM
Well, we have differing opinions then.

I'm not ghey, just a royally weird.

BigRedJed

Lemme guess: Open Arms, and Be Good To Yourself. You probably also liked Steve Perry's Oh, Sherry.

BigRedJed
2/7/2008, 08:50 PM
Dean, how could you have not been into Journey? I can so see you drivin' down the street in your TA, T-tops in their vinyl covers in the back seat, touchin' up your parted-down-the-middle, feathered mullett with a marbled Goody comb, crankin' Wheel in the Sky. You disappoint me.

SoonerStormchaser

No no no, his song is Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin

You dweebs have just described all the reasons why I can't stand Journey.

Journey is the Barry Manilow of R&R.

Bite your tongue!! I prefer to think of them as more of the Christopher Cross of rock and roll.

Dean can't stay out of this thread. Because secretly, he loves teh Journey.

Don't fight it Big Poppa. You'll just wear yourself out.

BigRedJed

He also secretly likes it when I call him Big Poppa more than when BSG does it.
