I'll toss this in here because Boren likes to talk about endowment growth during his little pre-produced halftime recruiting schpeils... The latest rankings are out on the value of endowments, and Oklahoma is 66th. That's actually a drop of a point from last year, despite growing 16%. The total value? $1.114B. In 1999, it was $483M. I seem to recall this 1999 figure being a HUGE jump from when Boren assumed office, like a 4x increase.

Here's the rest of the Big 12:

5. Texas - $15,613,672,000
10. Texas A&M - $6,590,300,000
57. Nebraska - $1,277,169,000
60. Kansas - $1,238,695,000
66. Oklahoma - $1,114,426,000
70. Missouri - $1,097,846,000
74. Baylor - $1,018,012,000 (Baylor Med was 56th w/ $1,278,011,000)
100. Colorado - $716,656,000
118. Texas Tech - $641,640,000
128. Iowa State - $592,368,000
148. Oklahoma State - $468,735,000
186. Kansas State - $346,360,000

I might break down a few other conferences if anyone is interested...

Where is Tulsa on the list? On the radio the other day a guy said they were over 1b.

Got a link?

whats endowment growth?

More people or more money is being invested into the university. The principal remains intact and the universities skim off the interest earned to reinvest in their school.

It's not how big your endowment is, it's what you can do with your endowment.

Thanks for that... My source for it is password protected.

The Big12's average rank is 85, with an average endowment of about $2.56B.

ACC - 90/$1.58B (Duke's was smaller than I would have guessed, only $5.9B)
Big 10 - 38/$2.67B (only Iowa was below $1B, and not by much)
Big East - 111/$892M
CUSA - 172/$1.1B (not all schools were listed, Tulsa was 85th overall w/ $915M, my source includes historical data back to 2000, and OU did not pass them until 2005)
Notre Dame was 14th with $5.98B
MWC - 205/$423M (not all schools listed)
Pac 10 - 84/$3.39B (Cal and Standford are in top 10, OR/AZ schools rank 136th-154th)
SEC - 98/1.02B (Vandy is only 23rd, florida 61st, and it's downhill from there, with MSU and USC not even listed)...

North Texas was 390th with 92M, but had the 29th largest increase in the country, with most schools who were ahead increasing from much smaller bases.

TCU was 62/$1.19B
SMU was 54/$1.33B

Hmmm. What are the implications of this thread being located on the recruiting forum? What is it they say? "avoid ye the appearance of evil.";)

Denison University (OH), where I got my undergrad, is ranked at 117. They have around two-thousands students currently enrolled. Oklahoma State is 148. They have around twenty-thousand students currently enrolled. I'm enjoying this more than anyone could possibly know. Now, I not only have one, but TWO sources with which to taunt. Poor aggies

I put it here because nowhere else seemed appropriate. As someone who works in higher ed (though hopefully for not much longer), you speak of your endowment as a recruiting tool - the bigger your endowment, the more you can provide in the way of facilities and services.
