I'm embarassed to admit it, but I didn't realize until this primary that the DNC and RNC assign delegates differently in the primary elections? The Democrats have proportionate delegates, meaning that if you win 60% of the votes you get 60% of the delegates. Republicans have an all or nothing deal, you either win and get all the delegates or you lose.

So, I'm talking to this guy here at work (a real know-it-all type) and I made the comment that I just found this out.

He says, "Oh yeah, that's where the whole donkey/elephant thing comes from."

whuh?

I think Homey did a "good morning" piece on how the donks got their name.

My point was that I didn't follow this guy's logic at all.

I think he's wrong. I'd punch him in the eye too, just in case.

You only eat parts of the donkey but the entire elephant.

I think.

You just go up to him and say "You are wrong buttmunch, it comes from Andrew Jackson's campaign for president. "

then show him this: http://www.factmonster.com/ipka/A0881985.html

Then kick him in the numbers.

He's also wrong in that he's forgetting about the "superdelegates" that aren't necessarily bound by the vote. Dems put in that wrinkle after McGovern.

And punch him in the taint.

You buncha dumases. You don't get it.

The Republicans have an all-or-nothing approach due to pachydermicity.

That's a MSM conspiracy to get McCain nominated. They were thinking THAT FAR AHEAD!!!

A punch in the taint is a conspiracy?

So, I go to vote today, and the lady asks me if I'm a democrat or a republican. I heartily answer, "I'm a jackass".

She didn't understand. So, I said, "Donkey".

She continued to not understand. The volunteer next to her said, "Republican?"

Once I specifically said "Democrat", they handed me a ballot.

IT'S A CONSPIRACY111!!!1!!11
