Genesis the book is OK by me...

Genesis the band is the suc... (but that's just my opinion -- if you like them I got no problemo with that -- to each his own as they say).

Honestly I dig Phil Collins more as a drummer than a front man. I Can't Dance is not really a great song, but the percussion effects he uses are flippin' awesome.

Phil Collins and Blue Man Group would be a hell of a show.

So, if you were comparing Genesis lead singers to OU football coaches, is Peter Gabriel either Bud/Barry/Bob or Phil Collins? Is the guy that replaced Collins and lasted about a year or so Gibbs/Schnelly/Boo?

Genesis w/ Peter Gabriel rocked.

Genesis w/ Phil Collins had its moments.

Genesis the book of the bible is inspiring.

The Genesis Project was in my favorite Star Trek movie.

That's it for now. :O

After "Trick of the Tail" other than a few bars on "Wind and Wuthering" they just took too sharp of a turn. Without the music bouncing off Gabriel's reverse Mohawk, the sound wasn't as dynamic. Their intake of LSG probably decreased immensely with P.G.'s departure. Songs such as the 20 minute plus epic “Supper’s Ready” became three and a half minute songs about “I Can’t Dance”. I’m not condoning drug usage but I am condoning a little creativity in the song writing.

Home By The Sea/Second Home By The Sea is greatness, Mama is another good one on there for the drums. Tonight, Tonight, Tonight has some good drum parts as well.

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your *******. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

Some of you may be surprised to find out that Genesis has had a profound effect on how modern concerts are produced. The band invested in the R&D and production along with a company (Showco) of an "intelligent" lighting fixture, Vari-Lite, and thus ushered in an entirely new era in lighting design.

Also, their live audio production quality is legendary in the business. There wasn't any length to which they wouldn't go in order to achieve the best possible sound. Among other innovations, they were one of the first, if not the first, to tour with a digital reverb unit.
