The insurance man called and said you didn't make it.

Funny how you can cause so much damage to total a vehicle yet no glass or lights were broken, all doors open and close, it still drives straight and no frame damage.

We saw a 2003 Tahoe for $12,000 today.

That seems like a $31,000 savings. :D

You could keep it and they will give you a check for book less the salvage value. It would be kind of liberating if its driveable as you say. You could park real close to those guys who park way out in the boonies so they don't get door dings just to p1ss them off.;)

I'd do what Homey says.

Oh... about the damage. Are you talking about your right or my right? Cuz I don't see any damage on the right side of the car if we're talking your right.

and just think...car wash? pshaw! oil change? well, every 20,000 miles or so. Insurance? just liability and UM. Lock the doors? Not unless you have valuables inside. Hail? hah! you could laugh at hail!

this is getting more attractive ain't it?

Worst case, if you know someone who needs an engine/trans they could buy them from you assuming it's fairly low mileage.....strip the copper out of it, sell the wheels and still come out smelling like a rose.

Sell it for parts.

Screw it, i'm sounding like my uncle the junk car guy.

Buy the car from the insurance, spend some money to get it in working condition and then sell it. Make some money. My dad did that all the time with the cars me and my brothers and sisters crashed.

On your for sale sign add: NEW PAINT JOB!! :D :D
OR
Post on ebay that your parting out an Explorer.

Looks like the door post at the windshield is in pretty good shape, just judging from the outside but if it's not damaged then you could find a couple of good donor right side doors...have them painted to match and get the minor paint damage touched up as well and have a nice car once again.

I wouldn't suggest buying replacement doors, many years ago dad told me when the shop had to buy replacement shells for F-150/Lincoln/Taurus that they were close to $1000 empty.
But thankfully the glass is intact, so your ahead there.
I would recommend as Streaker said, just get it fixed and drive the wheels off of it since it's gotten you this far.
Shouldn't cost too much to get her running and looking good again.
