As a youngun?

What songs did you like as a kid?

Here are a few of my favorites, that I liked on the radio and juke boxes of my young world:

:D Sneaky Snake – Tom T. Hall (http://youtube.com/watch?v=MchhtofbgJI)

:texan: Rhinestone Cowboy – Glenn Campbell (http://youtube.com/watch?v=3RY4c4rcciE&feature=related)

 Still The One – Orleans (http://youtube.com/watch?v=73uHLQDSBYo)

:) Margaritaville – Jimmy Buffett (http://youtube.com/watch?v=73uHLQDSBYo)

:texan: Good Ol' Boys – Waylon Jennings (yeah this version is a mash-up with Willie and Cooter but the video's cool) (http://youtube.com/watch?v=q8m--165r48)

Waylon…God rest his soul.

:texan: Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys – Waylon and Willie (http://youtube.com/watch?v=aY97JcqUkRA)

Yeah, I grew up in old honky tonk bars. Both of my grandparents owned bars on opposite ends of town. I could shoot a pretty mean game of pool when I was like 9. Still can sometimes, but I only do it about once a year.

But my sister was a rocker chick, older than me and taught me about the greatness found in guitars and drums.

 Dark Side of The Moon – Pink Floyd (http://youtube.com/watch?v=D3sMZbhs7QA)

:eek:Paranoid – Black Sabbath (http://youtube.com/watch?v=CBWcRMonvWA)

:P Kashmir – Led Zeppelin (http://youtube.com/watch?v=tTaOvzZKRxA)

And then, sadly, the '70s were over and along came '80s hair bands. But I wasn't a kid much longer so that probably belongs in another thread.

What did you listen to as a kiddo?

When I was in 4th grade KBIX played "You Light Up My Life" every 17.24 minutes.

I didn't say I liked it, but they played the crap out of it.

Mom had a bunch of old 45's and I listened to these a lot:

Sink The Bismark – Johnny Horton (http://youtube.com/watch?v=KecIdlEAKhU)

Do Wacka Do – Roger Miller (http://youtube.com/watch?v=D6tCx_kA9gM)

Let's Twist Again – Chubby Checker (http://youtube.com/watch?v=K5PqydMA1kA)

Hound Dog – Elvis Presley (http://youtube.com/watch?v=We8P_Ww27hY)

In The Mood – Glenn Miller (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZJE-onnw2gM)

Orange Blossom Special – Anyone that can play it well. Still my litmus test for good bluegrass. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=23NtNYcJsuc&feature=related)

I found some good music on the teevee and juke boxes in the '70s too.

I Will Always Love You - Dolly Parton on Hee Haw (http://youtube.com/watch?v=MPD-4HZtahM)

Love me some Dolly!

Mama Tried – Merle! You knew it was just a matter of time before Merle showed up in this thread. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ffHcGlF0xDw&feature=related)

Good Hearted Woman – Waylon and Willie (http://youtube.com/watch?v=fVM2MgJnwgc)
