My truck was stolen from work today. Anyone dealt with this? How much is it to get a rental? Insurance says I have to wait a month to see if it turns up before I could get a help from them. :twinkies:

Never dealt with that, that sux.
Really sux that your insurance works like that...err...actually doesn't work. You'd think insurance could immediately come into play in that situation.

I will be finding a new company in the very near future. Recommendations?

Oh wait isnt there a thread about that floating around here?

That's odd. If you have rental coverage in your policy that should kick in right away.

Insurance rental car rate is like $20 a day. You're going to be pretty small pimpin' in the rig they give you, but it'll have four wheels and an engine.

Sorry about your truck getting stolen, though.

HEH no rental coverage.

I think I may go find the drunky thread.

I've always been with State Farm. They've always treated me good. No problems to speak of.....
Hope that's not who you're with

Ah. Well, that 30-day waiting period is pretty standard I think.

Here's another vote for State Farm, haven't had any problems with them for like 8 years now.

Some moron hit us last month, and our truck is in the shop now. His insurance (Safeway) authorized us a rental car at $28.99 a day, which sounds really bad, but that's one of their discount rates so we fell into the full size category. We've had a Ford Taurus for the week, it's a piece of ****, but at least it's a decent sized piece of ****.

I dont care if I get a Sicem mobile. As long as I find something I can get to work in. But its looking like it will be out of my own pocket. I'm just thankful I have a job to be able to get one. Should I go to a rental car place? Dealership? I'm new to this type of thing so anything serious helps.

My guess is a dealership has the higher rates. Plus, it's probably a good idea to ask your insurance company if there's any stipulations to getting reimbursed if you rent from a rental place or a dealer. It may be that they won't reimburse you if you rent from a dealer. I don't know that...just a guess. Seems there's always catches to everything.

The only time I have ever had a rental car it was from Enterprise. It wasnt that much of a hassle, and not too expensive. I do recommend getting the insurance they offer. Its usually a reasonable rate, and worth it if anything happens.

See If theres a " Rent a wreck "
They are cheap and have decent cars .;)

If you have to pay for the rental for thirty days and the rental fee is $30 (on the low side), you will end up paying $900 plus any additional taxes and fees.

So, why not buy a $900 beater, get liability insurance only and you have yourself transportation.....

After you settle up with the insurance company, sell the beater....

Depends on if you have 900.00 up front for the car.

I recommend Budget to rent a car. They've got good prices and they don't put a huge whopping hold on your account like other car rental places.

Good luck.

Why not just go steal someone else truck? That would be a reasonably cheap option.

Petro-Sooner

Tell the bank to send their repo man after it. They will find it faster than the cops will.

I'm getting a $400 check from ANPAC today because I haven't had a claim in 3 years. I don't know how they would be in a crisis with my home or car, but they have been nice when other people have hit me.
