According to fsn.com

http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/7732578/Kansas-coach-Mangino-is-hospitalized-for-tests

It's downplayed as routine tests. Don't know about you guys, but I've never been admitted for a routine check-up. Maybe it's nothing, but I do worry that the guy's going to keel over on the sidelines one day.

The school's President has urged the Mangino to do the lap band procedure. Apprently he has had it and is urging Mangino to do the same for his health.

Do you think it might be weight related?

TheHumanAlphabet

No one is publicly saying what the issue was. What I posted is what I read in USA Today this morning.

I wish him the best, really do. He's done great things at KU and I only see continued success with him around.

That would be the best to see Mangino at about 175 lbs and ripped at the end of "bigest loser - coach's edition". That would be a great show.

I was thinking the same, if it was something he had scheduled a while ago, maybe he is looking into the surgery??

Its not uncommon at all to have a battery of tests prior to elective gastric bypass surgery. These would include a sleep study and an echocardiogram. I'm betting this was a planned battery to assess risks pre-gastric bipass.

You'd have to specify what a 'loser' is or Gundy would show up and win.

The BIG GUY has a lot to offer players who play at KU. I hope he can take care of his weight problem. It would be nice to see a skinnier Mangino stalking the Jayhawk sideline.

I loved it when Mark ate out one of his star players for diving into the endzone or when he attached the officials in his press conference when the Big 12 guys robbed him of beating the #1 ranked bonghorns.

Even if the man drops 300lbs, I hope he never stops wearing the blue valour sweat suit of victory!

I add my concerns. And, yes, Mangino is a total class act. Back when he was here in Norman, I'd see him and his wife out walking (and beleive it or not, he DOES, -or did back then, get excercise). And we'd chat. He wouldn't hesitate to visit. Really really nice guy.

I absolutely wish him good health and blessings. He was a big part of our seventh National Championshp team, and he's a nice man & a wonderful coach. I'm thrilled that his team did so well last year, and I hope their climb to the top continues - he deserves it.

Take care of yourself, Coach Mangino. Your team, your family, your friends and your fans want you around for a long, long time. God bless you.
