only about 30 more days until I start going into withdrawals and drink myself into a coma until kickoff!

I'd prefer to not look at the calendar for another 6 months or so. Too depressing.

That's not too bad! What's bad is when you lose your first game and then have to think "364 days until kickoff".

Best I have down here to keep me occupied is spring training. :(

Why the long wait? The Fiesta Bowl was my start.

Since you guys are talking about the new season lets take a look at these guys, from espn's take.

Could see the field in 2008: RB Calhoun (in some role), DE Washington (situational duty to start out), possibly wide receivers.

Anybody think Calhoun could have an AP type freshman year. Washington could see some rotation at dline.

what ya'll think?

I really don't see us using Calhoun early unless he's just too special to keep aside. DeMarco Murray could tear it up as a featured back. DeMarco Murray, CB on 3rd and short and Madu is serviceable as well.

So would ya'll agree that Calhoun will get a redshirt.... jmo

"No. 14 player in the JC Top 25 (Rivals.com) ... No. 23 JUCO player in the nation (CollegeFootballNews.com) ... first team Jayhawk All-Conference (2004) ... preseason All-American by J.C. Gridwire (2004) ... sat out most of his sophomore season at Independence (Kan.) Community College with a broken fibula and received a medical hardship."

I doubt Calhoun could have the same type of freshman year (or JUCO career) that Allen Patrick had.

Dammit people...Adrian Peterson is AD!!! Not AP, not "The Cashier," not Purple Jesus....JUST AD!!!! :D

How sweet would Julio Jones be!

I heard that while Julio was in town on his visit that he lifted a car off of a little old lady trapped underneath...

...then climbed up into a tree to rescue her cat...

...while still gripping the car in one hand.

That's bull. With his tremendous reach, he didn't have to climb the tree. Just had to get on his tip-toes.

While AD was a freak, I would much rather have another Quentin Griffin come out... Consitent rusher and pass catcher... Dont want to become 1 dimensional with the QB/WR's/TE's that are on the roster...

Calhoun will see the field in 2008. to me his vision and elusiveness for his size will be hard to hide next year.

I want to see Calhoun consistently take on 8 and 9 man fronts before anyone judges his vision and elusiveness... He played a spread offense in HS... He needs tested in a pro style offense, like majority of offenses he'll face in the conference...

What happened to John Brooks. I sold my house to him in OKC 30 years ago and moved to Houston?

50/50 he gets a RS. I would've said no way possible if he'd graduated early (which he could have done) and been here for the spring.

I just read somewhere that Landry Jones is the only recruit to enroll for the Spring. Is that true? I thought Justin Johnson was here.

If Justin Johnson is here, I'd almost give him a better shot of getting on the field than Calhoun. Spring practices make a big difference in the learning curve. But then again, RB is one of the few positions where talent can get you on the field much quicker.

So, after all that, I still think it's 50/50 for Calhoun. If Brown & Murray are healthy, they'll need someone to mop up occasionally. But those minutes will go to Madu unless he decides to switch over to DB, which wouldn't surprise me at all. If he does, Calhoun would probably be the guy in the #3, most likely.

These things always get embellished. I was there, and he definitely put down the car before he rescued the cat.
