This is what I just overheard from the next cube. the guy next to me calls himself (home phone) and leaves himself reminder messages. if anyone's there and they answer, he tells them to hang up and let him call back and leave a message.

i just find this slightly amusing.
that is all.

My kids' (step kids) dad will call. If one of the kids other than the one he wants answers the phone, they will tell their dad to call back. That way the first kid will just ignore the ringing phone, hoping the other kid will pick it up next time. Apparently it would be too much work for them to get up and find their sibling for their dad.

i do this sometimes too, but I usually add a few comments about how sexy I look today.

no no, the beep is the sound the phone makes when I hang it up, or strike it across your head.

I used to work with a lady who would call and leave messages on her answering machine so her dogs could hear her voice during the day.

We had a guy at work that used to write reminders like that on his hand. We called it his hillbilly palm pilot. He was eating lunch one day and on the back side of his left hadn was a note, "update resume." He's no longer with us.

He does now. This was a year ago when the now-15yo's didn't have cell phones.

Does he actually say bye on the messages? That seems kind of unnecessary to me.

This is a great idea. I'm going to start leaving messages on my answering machine tomorrow. I think I'll call myself tonight just to remind myself.

But being that I'm paranoid and a conspiracy nut, I'll leave messages in secret code. It's a pity I never learned Pig Latin in school.

I think that's a nice touch. I hate it when people hang up before saying bye.

You oughta call him on his work phone and say "This is your answer machine...why can't you just write this stuff down."

yes, he really says "bye" to himself.

have you ever noticed that the characters in movies and on television never say "bye" at the end of phone conversations?

I have a friend that called home so that he could talk to his new big screen HD tv. It went something like this..."Hi tv, it's me. You doing ok? I miss you! I tell you what, tonight I will bring home some take out and we will spend some quality time together. I'll even give you a nice wipe down before we begin. Don't worry, I won't let you know who waste your high def picture on ER. We will watch some football together, hows that? See ya baby" :)
