View Full Version : What are you going to do with your $1200 rebate?

I'm thinking new widescreen TV or much-needed computer upgrade.

A new gun would be nice but the wife would not approve.

I suppose the liberals will send their rebate back based on principle.;)

But the government wants you to spend the money; not save it, so I think I can be a good citizen and comply.

Okay, so I haven't kept up with this tax rebate as much as I should have. I heard tid bits on the radio about it yesterday and last week. How much money am I looking at getting back as a married man with one child? And if Bush approves it, are these totals set no matter what our regular taxes come to for April 15th??

The Oklahoman had a detailed article on it yesterday that explained it well. You might try their website.

thanks. Just read it...that's pretty much what I heard on the radio yesterday..but on the radio they were saying it so fast, it's good to see it in writing.

......Under the plan, individuals who pay income taxes would get up to $600, working couples $1,200 and those with children an additional $300 per child under the agreement. Workers who make at least $3,000 but don't pay taxes would get $300 rebates.....
So I'm looking at getting $1500. That would be nice.
I would either:
a) pay off a credit card
or
b) start building my fence for my large back yard

Exactly what I'd like to do.
But realistically, I know it's a better move for myself and my family to pay some debt down. Or build my fence, so we don't have to worry as much about our son when he's playing in the yard.
But I will still make a few games this season as I always do. It just won't come directly out of that tax rebate (if we get it) :D

I just ran into this article

http://tulsa.cox.net/cci/newsnational/national?_mode=view&_state=maximized&view=article&id=D8UDLPS81&_action=validatearticle

...The White House and House leaders of both parties reached agreement on a simply drawn stimulus program, which would provide tax rebate checks to 117 million families and give businesses $50 billion in incentives to invest in new plants and equipment. In his weekly radio address, Bush asked Congress to approve the agreement "as soon as possible."....

Check out the ballistics of a .260 Remington. With the right bullet selection, you can have the same trajectory as a .300 Win. Mag with waaaaay less recoil (High B.C. bullets)

6.5 mm has never caught on in America like it has in Europe. I don't know why, it is a fantastic round. A .260 Remington with a Lapua 123 gr bullet has a BC of over .547 and will go supersonic past 1400 yards.

Since it's the government handing out money that they've already collected, I'd think that conservatives would refuse the extra government spending. :D

Truthfully, we earn too much for the refund, but we're in such a high tax bracket that we would be better off earning less and would do just that, if our overhead to stay in business wasn't so high. :(

All of the rebate amounts would gradually be reduced for individuals with adjusted gross incomes over $75,000 and couples reporting over $150,000 in adjusted gross income.Shouldn't they get more since they paid more?
