Well I use saline solution to spray up my nose to relieve dry mucus membranes and stop bloody noses.

My wife uses a Neti pot. She likes it, haven't tried it yet.

I use saline nose spray all the time for my little one in the winter to keep her nose unclogged. The heater makes the air so dry so it is a big help at night. Not sure that it helps with colds, but she hasn't had one all year.
