...due to excessive drinking. This was reported on ESPN.

I do hope he doesn't do himself in, because he does bring the element of spectacle to the game.

What's the story on his left cheek's red marks?

Fingernails. That was a while back, probably a year or so ago. Reportedly, the marks came from a fight with one of his ex-wives ("all my ex's wear Rolexes" so his song goes). When asked about the bloody scars, he said something to the effect of "Well, my marriage has struggles just like any other one."

It looked like he was trying to grow a beard to mask it.

i played in the group behind Daly in a national junior tournament at the Trails in Norman. i played pretty well the first day so i was up in the pack, on day 2--with Bob Estes (winner), Daly, and couple other guys who were future Tour names and OSU schollies (i played the second day with a guy named John O'Neill who had a poke scholly).

if you've ever played the Trails it's different than it used to be as far as the trees, but Daly hits a cut 3 iron off the tee at 17. off the ground, no tee. fades it right around the corner. big fat kid from Arkansas.

it was ridiculous. like a 260 yard 3 iron. this is the early-mid 80's. none of this hybrid, supergolf shiz.

he just rolls out on the teebox. hits it. cut shot.
