I've visited their site HERE (http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?S=159#s=159&f=2508) and there is a stalker attitude with the majority of the fans. In one post, a guy was trying to find out what route Rodriquez was taking on his drive to Meatchicken, so the poster could "run him off the road."

But then, their senior US Senator IS a former Klansman, as well. (I don't know what this has to do with obsessed WVU fans, but it is a little odd)

Very weird....I thought it was weird at the Fiesta Bowl how many WVU fans had Rodriguez themed shirts on....strange...

Boorish?

You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.

But, yeah I bet the Rodriguez family thinks it's boorish.

American Heritage Dictionary
(bŏŏr'ĭsh) Pronunciation Key
adj. Resembling or characteristic of a boor; rude and clumsy in behavior.

boor'ish·ly adv., boor'ish·ness n.

Are WVU fans rude and clumsy in their behavior? Maybe, but that's not how I'd describe "stalker behavior" off the top of my head.

Couch burning...that's boorish.

boor
13c., from O.Fr. bovier "herdsman," from L. bovis, gen. of bos "cow, ox." Later re-borrowed (1581) from Du. boer, from M.Du. gheboer "fellow dweller," from P.Gmc. base *bu- "dwell" (cf. second element of neighbor). Original meaning was "peasant farmer" (cf. Ger. Bauer, Du. boer, Dan. bonde), and in Eng. it was at first applied to agricultural laborers in or from other lands, as opposed to the native yeoman; negative connotation first attested 1562 (in boorish), from notion of clownish rustics.

Boorish, originally referring to behavior characteristic of an unlettered rustic or peasant, now implies a coarse and blatant lack of sensitivity to the feelings or values of others: a boorish refusal to acknowledge greetings. Oafish suggests slow-witted, loutlike, clumsy behavior: oafish table manners. Rude has the widest scope of meaning of these words; it suggests either purposefully impudent discourtesy or, less frequently, a rough crudity of appearance or manner: a rude remark; a rude thatched hut. Uncouth stresses most strongly in modern use a lack of good manners, whether arising from ignorance or brashness: uncouth laughter; an uncouth way of staring at strangers.

Their behavior is "boorish," but so much more. It's ridiculous, obsessive, goofy, bewildering, silly and counterproductive.

I mean, the guy left them for Michigan. MiICHIGAN! How can you be offended at that?

Granted, coaches never leave OU for better jobs -- Fairbanks left for the NFL (and Bud for politics) being the only exceptions since 1950. So, we never have to wear their shoes, but really, what did he do that was bad?

He went to his alma mater, revived the program, had some success, and turned it over to what looks like a promising successor. He went to one of the top five programs, for big money. None of those babbling idiots would have turned Michigan down either.

So, why are they angry? I guess they just don't like to be reminded that they are not in Michigan's league. But really, not many are.

Former West Virginia offensive coordinator Calvin Magee has launched another salvo in the controversy that has followed coach Rich Rodriguez's departure to Michigan.

According to Mike Brown, Magee's agent, in a story published Sunday in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, a WVU administrator told Magee that he would not be a candidate to replace Rodriguez and pointed to Magee's black skin as explanation.

Brown -- who is also Rodriguez's agent -- told ESPN.com that the administrator "is in a position to know it's true."

I don't codone the extremities some fans are going to, but I understand why some of them are ****ed and want to see him lose every game from now to the end of time.

Apples and oranges. SC isn't a vastly better job than OU, or even a better job, depending on who you ask. Michigan IS a VASTLY better job than WVU, a fact that is universally accepted everywhere other than in WV.

A slightly better example would be Kelvin leaving for Indiana, save the alumni status. Sure, there are lots of people here mad at him for leaving the program in poor condition, or for the NCAA violations, but I think precious few people would blame him for taking a hoops job at Indiana if it was available.

Hey! I was just browsing around and came upon this thread and wanted to add a WVU fans input. I feel that this situation has got out of hand but there is alot of mudslinging going on by the media! It is understood that people leave coaching jobs...but in this case it was more how he left rather than the fact that he just left! He left us right after one of the worse losses in school history(to Pitt at home for the National Championship berth) and before a huge BCS game. He did this a year after flirting around with Alabama and WVU fans dug deep in their pocket to do everything they could for him to stay. He told us on several occasions that WVU was where he wanted to be and he was going to be here for a LONg time! Had he went about it in the right way WV fans would still be upset but would have been a little more forgiving, but he snuck around, Michigan never asked permission to talk with him, we found out he was leaving through a Press Release stating Terrelle Pryor said Rod had called him and informed him he was going to Michigan> He informed a recruit before informing the team who had played their hearts out for him for the last 1-5 years! The he turns in his resignation letter in through a Grad Asst. If all this isn't enough to upset the WVU fans he then doesnt pay up the $4milion-which could be used in the hiring of new coaches ! So yes WVU fans are upset but the media is feeding this! If Rod would just pay up and honor the contract all this could be layed to rest! And as far as the racial comments I think that is being over exaggerated..if it was what is being stated by the press do you really think that Calvin would have came back and coached the Fiesta Bowl?!?! I do wish this would all pass and yes some WVU fans are going overboard but we take great pride inour state and our Mountaineers and it was hard losing a WV boy to Michigan after loseing our BBall coach less than a year prior!
But i have great respect for the Oklahoma program and fans! I was unable to go to the Fiesta Bowl but heard nothing but good feedback from people i know concerning the Oklahoma Fans. Best of luck next season...wish we coud meet in the regular season...I think we could have some good matchups!

It's all good. Often times a fanbase gets a bad nod because of a few. I know I'm guilty of disliking certain folks of other fanbases by nothing more than blind judgement at times. As stated above, we kinda feel your pain through the whole Kelvin Sampson scenario here. I think while Bill Stewart isn't a long time candidate (he looks like he might be retiring in a few years according to most pubs), he wants to be there, loves the fans and the program and I don't see him just taking off. Hopefully he finishes strong at WVU.

I think a lot of people were ready for Kelvin's show to leave town...

Thanks! i am definitely ready for all the drama to pass. I was on our WVU board and it is driving me crazy! Wish the dust would settle and we could all move on! I agree that Bill Stewart will prob coach a few years and call it quits...I for one am excited to see what he brings to the table! He definitley rallied the team together when nobody was giving them a chance...and I think he is something special! He is very team oriented and not all about himself! But I wasnt coming over here to talk smack or anything! I enjoyed watching your team play and will probably catch a few of their games next year! I remember seeing a clip at the beginning of the season of a long Sam Bradford pass in the endzone and thinking they are a tough team...dont know if I would want to play them...haha...so when it was announced you guys was our opponent I did cringe a bit!! I think you guys are a very good team...just happened on January 2nd that WVU wanted it a little more and felt they had a little more to prove! It gave us fans a couple of good days after a very rough month...then the drama began to unfold again! haha

Seriously rus? 'cause in the game I watched, as much as I hate to admit it, they handed us our hat. Or our ***. Or they shoved our collective hats up our collective asses and then handed us that.

Yeah, historically the program is mediocre to slightly better. I'm just saying it would be disingenuous to dog this year's WVU team. I'd like to think we're not that type of fanbase.

You guys definitley have more 'tradition' than we do and Coach Stew nailed it on the head when he said it was an honor to even be named in the same breath as Oklahoma...
