Have you downloaded the new software/firmware updates, and if so, what do you think about the changes/additions?

I did. They're cool. The map location feature doesn't work particularly well, but adding bookmarks to the home screen and moving stuff around the home screen is cool. Chapter support in movies is nice, though the dang things are so small putting a movie on it takes up like an 8th of my hard drive.

iphone is cool...

love some of the new features but I think the coolest thing is the fact that these fundamental changes can be made so easily.

Just bought mine yesterday......so far I like it. Had "Hell" getting my contacts from Palm Desktop to the phone though..... I used a product to mirror the contacts to Windows Address book then sync'd up.

I guess I will have to go back to Outlook.......but man I hate that hog :D

Any hints for the newbie iphone user ?????:D :D :D

A friend of mine dropped his in a Bud Light. I would recommend not doing that.

You'd think that since he could afford an iphone that he could afford a quality beer as well. Maybe the cost of the phone and monthly fees have hurt his beer budget.

Oy.

Seconded.
;)

One big tip:

I have only had to do this once, but if you don't know how it can be really frustrating.

If your iPhone locks up for any reason, and won't even turn off:

Push the on/off button on the top while simultaneously pushing the bottom middle button for 10 seconds...the Apple logo will come on your screen and your phone will be reset. This is the iPhone version of a reboot. You have to dig into Apple's website to find this little nugget out...

Again, I have only had to do this once since I got mine in October.

Thanks...that will be a big help I bet.....I know it will lock up (unfortunately).

That is weird, my map location thing works pretty darn well.

You probably have more cell towers near you than I do.

Palm Treos don't like that either.

I did read up on some of the perks. Granted, these are dated....

what are the odds we could get SF.com to make a webclip icon like they did for the favicon? (little picture next to the URL in your browser)

Create a WebClip Bookmark Icon

iPhone and iPod touch allow a user to save a WebClip bookmark to your site on their Home Screen.

To specify a bookmark icon for all pages of a web site, place a PNG image named "apple-touch-icon.png" at the root directory of your web server - similar to the "favicon.ico" for site icons.

To override the site bookmark icon on a specific web page, insert a <link> element similar to <link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="/customIcon.png"/> within the <head> element of the page.

The bookmark icon dimensions should be 57x57 pixels. If the icon is a different size it will be scaled and cropped to fit.

Safari will automatically composite the icon with the standard "glassy" overlay so it looks like a built-in iPhone or iPod application.

Please?

+1 on that. I'll forward this suggestion to Beano, Norm, and Phil.

I'd forward it to Dean, but I think he'd just say "WTF?" and hit me with something.

Cool, thanks. I don't know much about stuff like that, but it doesn't seem like to much work at all since the logo is already designed. Might just have to make it a little bigger is all.

SF.com WINS!!!!!! Good thing too, cause I almost got baned there yesterday. Apparently they don't like their mods being called "Longhorngirlie" or being reffered to as "hornfans.com." :D

Seriously, thanks Beans. IT looks great.

Pics coming in a sec...
