No. 4 SOONERS HAMMER SUN DEVILS

OKLAHOMA HOSTS COLORADO, COLORADO STATE THIS WEEKEND

THIS WEEK’S GAMES - The University of Oklahoma® hockey club (22-2-1) returns home for a tripleheader of hockey this weekend. OU hosts Colorado (18-1-3) on Friday and Sunday and Colorado State (9-7-2) on Saturday. The Sooners have a 2-2-0 all-time record against the Buffs, splitting games in Boulder during the 03-04 season and then splitting games in Oklahoma City the following season. OU has a 1-1-0 all-time record against CSU, having split a pair of games in Oklahoma City during the 03-04 season.

LAST OU HOCKEY GAMES – The Sooners traveled to the desert valley for a pair of games against Arizona State University (7-13-1) in Scottsdale. During the Friday night affair, the teams were tied 3-3 going into the final period. The Sooners took the lead with about five minutes to go in the game when forward Ryan Kenney (Scottsdale, AZ) skated in near the top of the crease and slammed the puck into the ASU net. Defenseman Mark Tylka (Wisconsin Dells, WI) added a power play goal with just over a minute to go to seal a 5-3 victory over the Sun Devils. Forwards Owen Brewer (Kenai, AK), Keith Denton (Vail, CO) and Jordan Novak (Plano, TX) also scored goals for the Sooners. On Saturday evening, OU had a two-goal lead in the second period when an ASU player lost his composure trying to fight forward Jarrod Yost (Murphy, TX). Unlike the crazed Sun Devil, Yost kept his cool, putting the Sooners on a seven minute power play. OU made the most of the advantage, scoring three goals to take a commanding 5-0 lead when the power play was over. The final score was an 8-2 rout of the Sun Devils on their ice, with OU getting two goals from forward Daryl Dee (Garland, TX) and single markers from forwards Novak, Daniel Siira (Anchorage, AK), Kyle Allan (Flagstaff, AZ), Adrian Borchgrevink (Kenai, AK), Chris Nicolaou (Dallas, TX), and defenseman Robert Hetrick (Tulsa, OK). To re-live all the action from this past weekend, go to http://ustream.tv/recorded/4pt4ReTh2OASIGOMVlejOp.VBYK3cgTY for the Friday 5-3 win and to http://ustream.tv/recorded/ahkdz2s6A2G68vNlqJjspQ for the Saturday night 8-2 blowout. You'll have to put up with some unabashed ASU-flavored commentary and whining but the Sooners still win in the end both times.

THANKS – Thanks to all the Oklahoma hockey parents, family and fans who traveled to Phoenix for this past weekend's games. The crowd at the Alltel Ice Den was very much pro-OU for both games and the team appreciates the tremendous Sooners support in hostile territory. Very special thanks to Chris and Shelly Kenney for graciously hosting a post-game get-together for the team after Saturday's game.

RANKINGS – The Sooners are ranked 4th in the latest ACHA Coaches Division 1 ranking released at the end of the Fall semester. The next ranking is scheduled to be released on this Friday.
