Does it really get that cold up in Alaska?

Froze?

Depends where you're at. In Juneau, actually, it doesn't. It's pretty far south compared to the rest of the state and it's on the water, so the brutally cold weather kind of misses it.

Anchorage has a posted high temp of -1 F today.

Fairbanks I think is supposed to have a high of -35 F.

When I got to visit Nome a few years back the kids were out riding their 4 wheelers in shorts and t-shirts.

It was April and like 15 degrees F.

They're just as amazed that you'd wear a jacket and earmuffs in 40 degree weather. :D

I taught an OSHA 10-hour safety course to some water system operators up there.

Everyone should get to go experience Nome.

Heck, the place had a Subway and a movie theater. What more would you need?:D
