"There's no way on earth you can figure it out," he said. "The trauma these people have undergone is unlike anything that has occurred in the history of our country."

OK, yes, Katrina was very very bad. However, tornados destroyed virtually the entire town of Hesston, KS twice. The second time was right after they finished rebuilding from the first one. Same story in Greensburg, KS. Same story with the massive wildfires in California and Georgia. Same goes for the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.

Methinks some people down there need to quit looking for someone to blame for a natural disaster and just nut up and deal with it like the rest of the country.

Deduct the BILLIONS of dollars we've handed to the welfare recipients before and after Katrina and I'll think about giving them more money.

They can just bite me.

I will never willingly step foot in the state of Louisiana or the City of New Orleans because of crap like this.

I've gone through Camille ('69), Frederick ('79), Irene ('99), Katrina ('05), and Wilma ('05) and some future ones to be named later.

Alls I got out of it was a damned generator - from Wilma. I had to front the money for it at Lowe's the day before the hurricane hit!!! WTF?? FEMA didn't show up for weeks to reimburse me. How crass, uncaring and dehumanizing. Hard to believe that in 2005 we're treated like animals in the face of disaster.

Where's my fuggin money?

The federal government sucks. Bastards.

Exactly.
They live/lived on the coast below sea level. I just don't see how that's the government's fault.
Like it was said above, I live in Tornado Alley. Should the government be sued if I get hit by a tornado?

Can we sell them back to the French for a $1?

Some residents may have grossly exaggerated their claims to send a message to the corps, which has accepted blame for poorly designing the failed levees.

"I understand the anger," Scott said. "I also understand it's a negotiating tactic: Aim high and negotiate down."

:D

I'm willing to settle for eleventy billion.

nah, He has deep pockets and all, but He doesn't pay in earthly treasure and the exchange rate makes it nearly impossible to buy a decent flatscreen

Yeah, I was wanting $3 quadrillion but I'd settle for a six pack of Heineken and a new Tee Vee.
