Anyone have any experience with a program like this? (http://www.spamitback.com/)

while this may seem like a fun idea, it's only going to make servers run slower and potentially put you on blacklists

the majority of spam i see has forged headers in some way anyway, so the return address is meaningless

whose blacklists?

i didn't look too closely at the technical side of how you are sending out the emails, but they are going through some SMTP server somewhere, and if you are basically spamming, you could end up on a list somewhere

like here: http://spamcop.net/bl.shtml

Send e-mail directly to spammers mailboxes when discovered. (Software uses a built-in SMTP server, which means you don't actually need an e-mail account to send mail to the spammer. It does not send e-mail through your account, but rather connects directly with the spammers mail server. Similar tactics they use to send out spam).

Does this help clarify anything?

the things that leap out at me are, for one, can you trust these people? you are turning your machine into a spambot at that point. do you trust what they are sending out and to whom? your ISP could also see all this traffic and block your access either to send or altogether.

for me, i couldn't run that because COX blocks outgoing SMTP to anyone but their servers.

but also, if you look at the spam you get, the return address is mostly meaningless, it's usually the URL inside that means something

a good portion of the spam i get has my email address as the sender, or just someone else at the same domain
