I've got a 42" HD set and am looking at surround sound systems to hook up to it. Any suggestions?

Edit: You can't say "k.n.o.w.e.r-a.b.o.u.t.e.r" on here anymore? Guess I've spent too much time on the football board

Sure. Plenty.

What's your price range? What's your requirement for space? What features are must-haves?

If I were putting together a home theater system, here's the features I'd make sure I got:

At least 2 HDMI 1.3 inputs on the receiver.
At least 7.1 capability
Assignable inputs
Automatic room calibration

My room's about 12'x11.5' and I sit about 8' from the TV. HDMI's obviously a must. Bose I think is the only one I've heard of that does automatic room calibration, but that'd be nice if I could find one to do that. I'd say $6-700 would be a decent upper limit. I still have some research to do, so any suggestions on what to get / what's not important would help too.

$6-700 for the receiver and speakers total? You can do that but your options may be somewhat limited. However, that's roughly how much mine cost and I frankly can't tell THAT much difference between mine and some $2000 setups I've heard.
