I HATE, HATE, HATE this word. We know what you want to say. If you really think you need to say "****ing" to make your point more clearly, then have some balls and say "****ing".

And don't get me started on the 6 year olds I hear running around saying it.

I like how you made a thread about hating the shortened version of f**k... and your avatar has a shortened version of it.

My first recollection of "freakin'" was from when "The Longest Yard" was put on tv....."I think I broke his freakin' neck." From the guy who went on to play "Jaws" in the James Bond movie.

I do believe that is the first time I heard it, also.

I just saw June Jones use it in his pregame speech to his team.

You know what's awesome? You can tell someone to naff off and it's not censored.

I use all kinds of replacement cuss words. I have a conviction about cussing, so I think your POV doesn't take that into consideration. I also have kids, so even if I wasn't a Christian I wouldn't use them around my kids. I find that cussing in public or around children is disrespectful, to say the least.

Some of my faves:
flipping
freaking
mess (as in "this is bullmess!!!), also "bulljive"
stink/stinking
dang

I'm a regular Mr. Rogers. ;)

My favorite phrase that I use when I want to circumvent cursing is to say "what the crap!"

In fact, I really don't curse that much in person, and I find myself typing the asteriks instead of typing the curse word on the boards here.

I'm about the same way about hearing people try too hard to censor themselves. It's like, hello! It means the same thing with that emphasis, doesn't it? Not like it's any nicer to call someone a "freaking" idiot. Not like it sounds any less negative to say "darn."
