Someone in my extended family lost their spouse a couple of years ago and one thing the gentleman didn't take to the grave with him was his Handicap Parking thing that hangs from the rear view mirror. The widow kept it and used it until it expired. Now, I know there's a lot of this going on, but I generally get pis$ed when I see some perfectly able normal bodied person shoot into a Handicap Parking space then jump out of their car.

At my apt., there are a sh*tpot of handicap parking spaces. There are no handicapped people living there. So we all park in them. But that's different, ain't it?

I mean, we're at least abusing it in a brazen fashion, and not using something that doesn't belong to us.

One of my family members uses one of our Grandmother's handicap doomaflatchy to park up front at the casino.....that does **** me off!

On another note, it never ceases to amaze me seeing the elderly people at the casino, carrying an oxygen bottle all the while 99.98% of the people in their are sparking up a Pall Mall:D

I know a person who has a handicap tag because of migraine headaches. Would you drive with a migraine? No. So why do you need a handicap tag?

I've seen the rolling oxygen tanks in the casinos too. That is really sad that people in their final days of barely functioning lungs are in there gambling it all away.

I guess they figure, "what the hell?"

But if they hit a big jackpot, what are they gonna do? Jet off to the French Riviera and dance the night away?

I don't know what might be considered a Big Jackpot to some folks...

I know they give away a few cars, trucks and motorcycles and there is the occasional $10,000 + winners...

It's still not enough to think your gonna be able to buy a new lung.

I'm no fire marshall, but wouldn't it be illegal to allow oxygen tanks and smoking, in a casino? I know the tribes could care less as long as their spending money, but the security in those places looks like their just itching to pull the trigger on those taser guns:D

There some cases in which a condition might not be visible but can designate the need for a HC parking plate/placard. I am not sure of what those conditions are but I bet my wife does, she works for a non-profit agency helping people with disabilities. They even have motorcycle HC license plates down here, the first time that I saw one was on a Suzuki Bandit 1200 in the parking garage where I used to work.

It should be a safety concern. But I'm not sure how much O2 those portable tanks carry, so I don't know if there would be a lot of fireworks if one of them exploded.

When I worked in the hospital, I can't tell you how many times the staff caught patients on O2 sneaking a cig in the bathroom. That would make me mad. But for some reason those that were diagnosed with terminal cancer and went outside with their oxygen on to smoke didn't bother me as much.

I think so. I always thought it was funny that the HC parking spots at the apts I used to live at were like a block away. Somehow or another having a sidewalk with a ramp leading to all of the buildings somehow made it legal.

It all depends on the "accessible route" actually being accessible, which means no slope greater than 1:12 (1" rise for every 12" of travel). In many cases the grades necessitate the route being longer than what is preferred.

My grandfather used to pull the O2 tube out of his nose in between puffs.

I broke my leg a couple of years ago, and that placard helped out a bit. I was a wee bit cranky when it expired, but the exercise helped me lose my limp.

That's my MIL...

BTW, the handicap tag dealio has been a Nov. Sweeps story in Houston a couple years back. Lots of fraud, found court and city employees using fraudulent tags. One or two people lost their jobs over it...

My step dad back in the day knew how to take care of these folks. You see he lost his legs while pushing a car at night. Car had broken down and he was trying to push it off the side of the road. He got hit from behind by a drunk driver. Some how he ended up in the middle of the road and got ran over by a 2nd drunk driver.

Anyway he qualified for handicap parking. If he saw someone parked in HCP without a sticker or saw someone perfectly able he would do his monkey craw and park his butt on the hood of there car.

depending on his mood , he would craw thru mud puddles and than just sit and wait for them to come out.

It was the funniest **** you ever saw. he had one big guy almost in tears ( i was in tears from laughing so hard). made the guy give him a piggy back ride thru the store and back to his car.

Ah good times. I sure miss that guy some times R.I.P George

My father had decals in his cars and since his death they just sit in the garage since mom sold his cars. Anyone need a decal for an eldrely parent?

Don't want cash, but Crown Royal will be cosidered.
