So much for the NFL Network, now we all can see and enjoy the Patriots lose on Saturday. :D
CBS and NBC to Simulcast Patriots' Big Game
In a shocking move, the NFL has announced that this Saturday's big game between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants — in which the Pats will attempt to become the first NFL team to complete a 16-0 regular season — will be simulcast on the NFL Network, CBS and NBC (Dec. 29, 8 pm/ET). Originally the game was slated to air only on the NFL Net, but given that channel's limited reach (roughly 44 million homes), the league decided to make the much-hyped game available to the entire country. CBS and NBC will simulcast the NFL Net's feed, with Bryant Gumbel and Cris Collinsworth calling the game.
This is the first time ever an NFL game will be shown on three networks, and the first simulcast of any kind since the first Super Bowl in 1967 (on CBS and NBC).
“We have taken this extraordinary step because it is in the best interest of our fans,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “What we have seen for the past year is a very strong consumer demand for NFL Network. We appreciate CBS and NBC delivering the NFL Network telecast on Saturday night to the broad audience that deserves to see this potentially historic game. Our commitment to the NFL Network is stronger than ever.”
