Sucks for them! :D

Pacific Life Holiday Bowl (13)
Arizona State vs. Texas
Dec. 27, 8 p.m. ET (ESPN)
Why watch: If you want to see the first elite matchup of bowl season, this is it.

40-second analysis: Rejuvenated under first-year coach Dennis Erickson, the Sun Devils are the latest Pac-10 school griping about being left out of the BCS bowls. The league still hasn't gotten two teams into the big-money games in the same season. With Vince Young, Mack Brown is a BCS-level coach. Without Vince Young, Mack Brown is a Holiday Bowl-level coach.

Dash pick: Arizona State 27, Texas 23.

:P
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (34)
West Virginia vs. Oklahoma
Jan. 2, 8 p.m. ET (Fox)
Why watch: Because the Sooners are playing better than anybody right now.

40-second analysis: This figured to be a tough assignment for the Mountaineers before they lost their coach. Already disconsolate over blowing a shot at the National Championship Game, their small, speed-based backs are facing a physical defense that figures to pound Pat White & Co. Speaking of which: The Dash was tempted to put out its first-ever APB for a current player, given the disappearance of West Virginia running back Steve Slaton. Sooners rank in the top 10 nationally in both scoring offense and scoring defense.

Dash pick: Oklahoma 42, West Virginia 17.

Silly, Silly, whorns (http://forums.hornfans.com/php/wwwthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=football&Number=5374108&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&fpart=)

VY was NOT the only reason we were great those two years. It can be argued that our 2005 team was one of the five greatest teams in college football history. Was VY a HUGE part of it? Sure, but he was not the only reason.
 WTF!

Maybe they're trying to sever ties with VY because he's not as good as a pro quarterback.

Really, is he even a quarterback, or is he a guy under center that runs the ball a lot? "Quarterback" implies throwing :D

However, before you get too carried away, remember that they beat us without VY and if it weren't for a few late hits of Colt McCoy, they would have been to the Big 12 instead of us. Something us Sooners can sympathize with after the way KSU attacked our man Jason White a few years back, too :(

However, losing to Aggie... there is no excuse :D We deserved that Big 12 for that reason alone! :D:D I mean... COME ON! AGGIE!

Silly, Silly, whorns

I don't think they are silly so much as bitter. Except for the Mack Brown Pep Club, they willingly agree with the title of this thread.

Except for 1 season Mack was a Holiday Bowl level coach with VY.He did however mange to whine his way into another BCS Bowl but that had more to do with Brown's whining ability over VY ability at QB.

Interesting since Mack's bowl record at Texas is 6 - 3.

Now.. what is Stoopsie's record in bowl games again?

Radio boys need to do their homework a wee bit.

Sorry about that, it was Norm, so it was probably against the spread. Maybe the missing one was a pick em.

Pfffft. Anybody can win conference championships.

Now Alamo Bowls, its hard to attain just that correct level of mediocrity to get there and then win it.

Any bowl you can win, we can win better :D

Rose - Yea, we have one of those trophies.
Holiday - Got one of those too.
Cotton - yes, we win this one as well.

There you have it. We have the same bowl trophies you do.

And Big 12 trophies? We have so many of those Stoops is running out of types of candy to put in them.

Mack: Only Plain M&M's.
Stoops: Reese's Pieces, Skittles, Jolly Ranchers, Peanut AND Plain M&M's!

Next year: Hershey's Kisses for th championship trophy.

Of course.. Mack and Big Game Bob have won the same number of BCS bowls....

Oh... and Mack has done something Big Game Bob has never done.... win a national championship with just his own players.

Until a few years ago, you couldn't say Mack beat OU with his own players, either :D:D:D

But alas, you had Vince Young to take away that stigma. VY once again to Mack's rescue!

Tell me Lid... why didn't you choose this avatar?

Do you really think Vince is coming back to save Mack? If so, here's your avatar:

And then you have a funny looking kid that isn't very good to replace VY:

But instead, you go with the tame option:

Especially in '08 when Jevan Snead leads Ole Miss to a miraculous 10-2 SEC West division title and Cotton Bowl appearance.

"How could Mack let him get away....?"
"Mack sure did pick the wrong QB in '06...."

Built primarily off Holiday/Alamo/Cotton Bowl opponents without VY. 4-2 in such games!

It's easy to make a gourmet dinner with mainly just beer nuts and cocktail weenies in the fridge with a dash of Heupel.

Mack Brown has done a good job. If not for Bob Stoops' Oklahoma exploits Brown would be considered more prevalently as one of the nation's great coaches, maybe even following an additional national championship path in 2002 or 2004 without the OU losses those years. Brown has always been respectful of OU and its players, recalling fondly his time as a Barry Switzer assistant. He had the bad fortune of running into OU's good fortune, but he has still not had that bad a run at UT.

Vince Young only beat OU once in his four years on campus, UT going 1-3 against the Sooners while VY was on campus, the first year as a redshirt.

Mack Brown with Bob Stoops coaching Oklahoma is the equivalent of Tom Osborne with Barry Switzer coaching Oklahoma. In both instances, the Sooner coach has kept the opposing one just a hair below the achievement level of Greatness. Most whorn faithful have accepted this as their fate, just check their boards if you don't believe me. On the plus side a lot of em now have lifetime passes to SeaWorld.

UT faithful should consider buying time-shares in San Diego.
