When do you open presents? We have always opened family presents Christmas Eve, then Santa visits while we are sleeping and we see what he brought Christmas morning.

We definitely open on Christmas morning. I think my wife tried to get us to open one gift the night before, a while back, but I resisted.

When I was a kid, Congress passed a law:
One present Christmas Eve; the rest next morning.

We followed that law, and my kids follow that law too.

However, as we got older there was a condition added that the unlined black gloves that Grandma bought at TG&Y diddn count...

or socks.

As a kid I loved it that we opened everything Christmas Eve. Now that I am an adult and don't get as many presents I'd rather wait.

It used to always be Christmas Eve, however i got married in July and Christmas is all jacked up now..among other things....

Christmas morning while eating donuts. We want the kids really wired so they crash hard at night, so than Santa and Mrs. Santa can have some "we" time.

What if one of the parents is a nurse, working hard at the hospital, taking care of very sick patients on Christmas day?

Luckily my wife has Christmas off this year.

That's the way it worked in my house. We'd open the regular gifts on Christmas Eve and then Santa would bring the marquee presents the next day.

We still do it that way. Of course my sister and I no longer believe in Santa, but we still get the big stuff on Christmas and open the rest on Christmas Eve.

I don't know what holiday you all celebrate, but it makes Baby Jesus sad if you don't open one on Christmas Eve and the rest when you wake up in the morn.

When I was little, we would go to my dad's mom's on Christmas Eve and open gifts from that side of the family and when we got home that night we could open one gift from our tree. Then the rest Christmas morning and then off to my mom's mother's house for their Christmas.

Now since I'm not at home anymore, I let the kids open one gift on Christmas Eve (usually jammies or houseshoes or something like that) and the rest on Christmas morning. Of course I"m not sure about this year. The kids have told me no more jammies mom :( Guess they aren't cool anymore

We do the same thing, one Christmas Eve, the Christmas nightgowns to wear to bed that night do not count. The rest Christmas morning.
