Would it be possible to install a quick-disconnect dealio between the weatherhead on a house and the power line above the house?

You know, a little section designed to snap apart if a tree or limb falls on it so the line doesn't rip all the expensive to replace junk from a fellers crib?

Then, once the downed foliage was cleared, it could be snapped back together and viola...juice can once again flow to the house.

I think somebody is working on a patent. :)

I think PSO owns everything up to the weatherhead, so I doubt they'd be up for that.

Installing underground utilities should be a law after this year . . .

maybe for new developments, but going in and burying existing above ground lines is estimated to cost eleventy-kajilllion dollars. And I don't want to pay a higher bill for that.

Alligator clips were invented years ago.....sometime around the mid to late sixties.

Just tie it to terrorism and viola it's paid for . . . :texan:

You'd have to find a plug that's rated at 200 amps and would actually come loose when pulled hard enough. If you're having to replace, I'd see if they'd bury your new line. They should, I don't see why they wouldn't.
