you turn it on and about 10 seconds later the color starts shifting to red so that in a few seconds the screen flashes completely red and then the tv shuts off.

any ideas?

the picture looks fine until it goes red and quits, though... then the "stand by" light blinks 7 times and stops.

Ah. In that case, it's a blown tube. Buy a new TV.

;)

Seriously-that sounds like a "Buy a new TV" issue. Unless you've got a high-end TV, it's going to cost less to replace it with something better than it is to fix it.

Unless you've got a high-end TV, it's going to cost less to replace it with something better than it is to fix it.it's a big huge expensive Sony HDTV. They've only had it since 2003-2004. i think it's still under warranty. my dad's on the phone w/ them now.

Duh, that goes without saying. PG is a super cutie and my mom used to tie a porkchop around my neck to get the dog to play with me.

should I take this to mean we has a new tv?

Should I take this to mean I need to buy an X-Box 360 to go with our new tv?

Should I take this to mean you've already bought a Wii to go with the new tv?

Is the new Wii wee?

Problem temporarily solved. There's a nice new Sony Bravia sitting in front of the possessed tv.

Repair tech guy can make it by in a couple of days.

Now there is no reason to repair the old one. Good Choice BTW

yeah, and the old tv's way bigger.

and it's not like any of us can lift it to get rid of it if it's nonfunctional.

I haqd an intresting experience recently with TV repair. We had been having problems with our TV reception and we called DISH.They walked us through about 45 minutes of trouble shooting and told us it wasn't in their system. We called RCA tech support and they ran us through about a half hour of trouble shoting(twice),after the second time they told us to call a repair center and we did.

We got a callback from the Repair guy and after about 45 minutes the guy was able to help us reset our TV,good as new.I asked how much we owed him and he said noting. When I pointed out he could have come to oir house, charged a huge repair fee and then easily fixed the TV,the techie replied BUT THAT WOULDN'T BE RIGHT.I almost fell over,it is rare in this day and time to find someone who will do what is right instead of making an easy buck.
