All eyes will be on young DeMarco Murray - last spring many felt he was to be the next special RB in Sooner Country. He has not yet met those expectations

Really?

How has he not? Looks to me like he's been pretty darn good

Pretty good for a guy who missed three games and shared carries with two other backs, while his team also boasted the most efficient passing game in the country, too.

DeMarco will have a monster year if he is healthy next year. Especially if we go back to a primary back system with Cb backing him up on 3rd down or short down situations.

I say tOSU, OU, SUC & Florida are the 4 best teams heading into next year. I don't care what order they're put in.

Ever think you'd see a preseason Top 25 with Kansas ahead of Texas? :D

Of course you did, smartass... what if I told you Texas would be only three years separated from an MNC?

... and only 32 years until their next? Oh, well... you prolly saw that one coming.

I don't understand the tOSU #1 thing...they'll likely lose the Championship for a second year in a row and they'll still be playing in a crappy conference that is likely to either suck all-around or beat each other up.

Texas Tech won't be close to the top 10 by the time January 1, 2009 rolls around.

Wow Florida State must really be loaded next year if they can win with 25 players sitting the first 3 games. Are the alumni suiting up?

I think Missouri and Kansas are too high next year. Kansas has to play @ S Fla,@OU, @Neb, Tex and MU at Arrowhead. They could be be better than this year and still should lose 3 games minimum.

MU has Illinois which is a 50/50 game and then a schedule that makes some KSU's old non-conf schedules look good. They play at Texas though and have to go to Nebraska where they never play well. If they win the North they would have to beat us. Daniel is back of course as well as Maclin and Coffman but Rucker is gone as well as 3/5 of their O-line. I'd say MU is closer to 12-14.

The Whorns are probably a smidge low. I certainly see us beating them again and they probably drop one other game either to Ark,@TT or @ KU but I can see them 11-2.

Honestly I could see Colo in the top 25 before I could see TT. Colo plays @FSU the 3rd game of the season (FSU will be minus as many as 25 players) and they host Texas. They probably lose @KU and @MU but they could wind up 8-4 with a pretty strong schedule.

Big XII is 1/3 of the top 15, is the SEC aware of the disrespecting going on around here?

Actually, If you look at Texas Tech's roster they return nearly everyone, especially the line, which was college footballs largest. Not to mention the QB, his best receiver etc. They could return like 9 or 10 offensive starters next year.

The first sign of offseason, the appearence of preseason polls.Of season is long enough without waiting for this season to finish.I say wait until after bowl season is completed so the offseason does not seem quite so long.

I can already hear ESPN building up tOSU vs USC next year as the greatest game evar... The build up for that game will be nauseating.

In NCAA 08, in my dynasty, the 2009 preseason poll had us at number two, and USC number one, ended up playing Texas A&M for NC game...

I'm a little more old school. I have NCAA 2004 and I'm 4-time undefeated NCs.:D Corso still picks the other team sometimes though.

Me? Probably a little of both. Most rankings in the preseason seem to be geared toward predicted finishes. In the case of KU I think I'm probably leaning more on prediction. KU next year could have one of the 25 best teams in the country yet be 7-5.

that's my problem with the pre-season rankings. it's more about looking right at the end of the season than the actual power of the teams IMO

...But first they play 3 or so schools from the state of Ohio. How do you like your cupcakes?

I heard somewhere that 13 of their players had filled out the forms to be considered for the NFL draft. Doesn't mean they'll actually jump.

But if several do, and they lose to LSU, how could they be ranked high? In an unbiased way, of course.
