View Full Version : Makes a pretty valid point regarding Petrino and R-Kansas.

Little blerb from collegefootballnews.com

… Let’s see if I got this right. Atlanta Falcon owner Arthur Blank, for all intents and purposes, canned former head coach Jim Mora because of a joking comment about the University of Washington head coaching gig being a “dream job,” but Bobby Petrino is a jerkweed for leaving a dead team for another job. Makes sense.

That and the fact that there's sooooo much loyalty in the NFL.

Great point. Candor is punished, and lying is reviled.
What's a coach to do?

Still, something tells me Petrino is worse than Mora for the way he did things, but I can't put my finger on it.

tis probably that mora was fired, whereas petrino 'resigned'.

Or maybe he was listening to Steve Miller:GO ON TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN.

Or maybe he had visions of all the rats diving from that sinking ship.

Or maybe he wanted to go back to the ranks of the fun league.

Or maybe he's just not a big fan of dog fighting.

Or maybe he prefers younger, tighter buns.

Or maybe he's just a jackass...

The leaving a note for his players makes me think its the latter.

The gambler..."you gotta know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away..." - good stuff

This thread is sweet!

Petrino's motivation was the three basic human emotions.
Those being: Greed, fear and greed.

Oh yeah and he sucked at the NFL level and his ego hated it. Really, which sucked worse? His coaching at the NFL level or the team he inherited? I might have to go with the team and give him a small physical break.

did he suck or did the team suck after losing basically their only star?

i'd rather watch college football than NFL... i'd imagine i'd rather be coaching college too

i mean aren't college coaches at their jobs longer? i can't imagine turning down a college gig that was going to pay more money AND getting a chance to leave Atlanta. it's not like he was leaving Green Bay or something
