View Full Version : Is it any wonder there's a major shortage of Wii's in the stores?

Check out this photo from some dude's ebay auction. It looks suspiciously like someone's home. Who has access to that many Wii's????

I'm surprised there's no flames in the picture. Those things be hot hot hot.

Kinda what I was thinking. I'd think law enforcement might have some questions for that guy.

Well, I have known some Toys R Us employees who pulled stuff like this, they bought them before they ever hit store shelves and sold them for bigger money.

I doubt a Toys R Us employee would be able to buy $12,500 worth of Wii's.

Not if you have "investors" much like people used to be with concert tickets. You line up a bunch of employees to purchase them (even better if you have a manager involved), pay them a little, then resell. I have known a few who have been involved in those schemes.

haven't they been out like a year now?

why are they still so hard to find?

Demand. Hard to find them when people keep buying them as fast as Nintendo can make them.

Well I can vouch for that. The kiddos were at grandma's all last week so I hooked up the Wii that we're giving them for Christmas and played several of the games. We had a great time.

Of course, I only hooked it up to make sure that it worked and that I could connect to my network. I'd hate to have disappointed kids on Christmas morning. ;)

I walked into walmart and picked one up in March. There were plenty of them then.

I've played it a couple of times since then.

I'll stick to my Gamecube and my Zelda games, thank you very much.

The Zelda game for wii rocks btw.

My wii was the first system I have owned since super nintendo. It is fan-freakin-tastic.

(disclaimer: My kids have had psone and ps2's as well as gameboy advance and dses but I didn't play with them)

You're the first person I've heard say that. Everyone else says the controller make the experience night and day.

I'll stick with my PS2 and Xbox 360 for the time being. My wife would freak if I bought a third gaming console.

My son did the 50 yard dash one morning at Hastings when they got a shipment in and bought one. He has it up on e-bay right now. Not many people bidding on it. I don't know if they are that hot or not. He bought it for $275 (I think) and he is trying to make a quick $100 (+ they pay shipping). So far, not that many bites. It's getting down to crunch time. We shall see.

By the way, I understand the Wii is becoming really popular in nursing homes. Have you considered getting one for your bride? ;)

No...she keeps commenting how her middle son won't stop playing the X-box 360 in our living room...then she goes out and buys her daughter Guitar Hero 3 for Christmas.

I'm bringing my gamecube up there when it comes time to move back home...and if she bitches about that...well, then...aww hell, I dunno what I'd do.

pffft. I guess Wii's aren't too popular up here in SW Kansas. I saw 6 on the shelf at the Walmarts today. If they've got any left on Thursday I'll be getting one for the kids.

Nah, Liberal. Not to make a blanket statement but I've been from Liberal to Hugoton to Sublette to Moscow--and it's smelled like not stop cow sh*t.
