According to Dean the Dream on the Blitz tonite; i thought Fedora already had the job?

Well given Deano's track record I gotta say this is a done deal. I questioned Deano once. Once.

What are the odds Wilson takes the job? 40/30? 90/20? 60/60?

Yet, another SOONER assistant will probably get a Div 1 HC gig. Has any other major program cranked out more head coaching candidates since Bob arrived? What's the recruiting impact? Shouldn't be to hard to land another top flight coach with that track record.

If Wilson goes, then does Cayle get his shot at the OC job?

No dice on Cale...and not sure, if I was Wilson, if I would take this job. I gotta think assistant at OU with stable environment for the next 10 to 20 years beats head coaching gig where you will be looking for a new job in 5 years or so...but that is just me.

If Wilson leaves, then I think Heupel gets the OC job. And I think Heupel will make one hell of an OC.

Over Sumlin?

I doubt it.

Over Sumlin?

I doubt it.If Sumlin stays, I would think it would be a CO-Cordinator situation.

OK STATE'S FEDORA TO SOUTHERN MISS

Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Larry Fedora has accepted an offer to become the next head coach at Southern Mississippi, GoPokes.com is reporting (http://iowastate.scout.com/a.z?s=171&p=2&c=709327).

Fedora has spent the last three seasons at Oklahoma State and three seasons before that as an offensive assistant at Florida.

Fedora was reportedly offered the head-coaching job at Rice last year, and this year he was mentioned as a candidate at Baylor and Southern Methodist.

They're now saying it was an INACRUT [hairGel] story.

I hope Wilson stays.

Well, I hope it's true, and I hope Heupel gets the OC gig.

...just sayin.

I do doubt that it's true though. :(

Remember, it was Wilson who took our wideout and won the Big-12 championship with him.

I really don't get why he has such low esteem amongst so many Sooner fans.

You will ALWAYS find times where your OC calls a play you think is boneheaded. I find far fewer of those with Wilson than I have with any co-ordinator since Heupel.

(We all know Heupel ran the offense from the line in 2000 -- Mangino was mostly there to eat hot dogs, and make offensive linemen quit the program)

It was a relief when Long left.

I don't get those of you who feel it'll be a relief if Wilson leaves.

I hope Wilson stays. He is really good at adjusting his offense to talent he has.

Chuck Long was good OC but he never made adjustments to the talent we had coming in.

I'd rather keep Sumlin than Wilson.

Just sayin.

I will admit that Wilson has done a better job since he realized, or Bob told him, that we couldn't hang OUr hat on running the stretch play 30 times a game.

I say peace KW. He has some good games but he has some bad ones. Heupel needs to take over the job.

Heupel? Really?

Curly Bill

Heupel? Really?

He's bound to be young and reckless! ;) We could use some more of that...in a good way. I equate it to being less predictable.

...really I don't know if he'd be the guy for the job or not, but I think he could be???

I think he could be eventually, but not now. All he has done here is coach QBs, and he hasn't been doing that for that long. Wilson needs to stay.

I have no problem with Wilson or Venables staying...but neither would I hate to see them go....

...like how I worked BV in there too? ;)

This is Oklahoma. We will win with them or without them.

Yeah, that was awesome. I can't wait to get some perfect coordinators that never call a bad game that leads us to a loss, too.

I read somewhere that the sticking point in negotiations between Fedora and USM was pay for assistants. Bower had a pool of around $800,000 to pay assistants and Fedora wants $1.2M. If that is true (and we all know how reliable these reports can be concerning coaching changes), I don't see why Wilson would leave OU to go there.

I read that also, but i also read that there may be a power struggle between the president(who i believe wants Wilson) and whomever it is that wants Fedora

Are you talking about the wideout who was recruited as a QB, and practiced as a QB for 2 years before moving to wideout for 1 year? That "wideout"?

How about we hire Norv Turner

Wilson interviewed with Southern Miss last week. This is the interview I alluded to in the other thread about coaching staff changes.

Unless USM and Fedora can't get things settled, he's staying here.
