WVA beat us the last time we played, however, in '82 or '83, I think.(I'm sorry to say) I was at that game, and WVU might have had their all-time best team that year. That fact, coupled with our sorry effort in last yrs Fiesta Bowl, should help to motivate the Sooners..I hope.

All that does is give us fans more to brag about, big help in recruiting, and get the opposing team pumped up whenever they face us - especially the underdogs. OUr team needs their own motivation - which includes the chance of getting upset every time they take the field. I really hope Bob gets OUr boys fired up for this game - like they were for the Big12 CH!

True...we better not just stroll in believing the paperclip will ensure victory. History won't decide the Fiesta Bowl...just like any other game.

Still, those stats are pretty ridiculous.

QB Jeff Hostettler made that a very difficult team to deal with. I sat in the stands wondering how many of these guys we would have to see tearing it up. John Elway the year before. Of course both went on to have great NFL careers so that kinda takes the sting out.

Isn't white lightening just another name for illegal booze? That stuff'll make you crazy, you know.

Anyway, we all know WVU has run with the big dogs before and you're doing so again this year. What the original post illustrates is that running with the big dogs is a far cry from being one of the big dogs yourself. ;)

Aint nothing wrong with some white lightening. I've had it a couple times, good stuff. Gotta go easy on it though.

That talk aside. I'm not gonna brag too much, we should be proud of our tradition and history...but that doesn't mean we'll absolutely win this game. I've learned my lessson, don't talk too much smack or you could end up eating a lot of crow. Especially in a crazy season like this one.
But man I'm surprised this thread hasn't brought any WV fans in here.

That being said, let's kick their asses in the fiesta and all the way back to west virginia!

Outside of the championship game I wouldn't want to play any other team right now. We're in the 2nd biggest post-season matchup.
WVU is a worthy opponent this season. That said I hope we mop the floor with the "Eers".
Kinda cool how Oklahoma has alot in common with West Vagina if you think about it.
Both have a somewhat ambiguous regional distinction.
Both are berated as hillbillies.
Both are somewhat underpopulated.
etc....

That game in 82 was very frustrating to watch. The defense would hold em to third and long then Hostetler would throw a completion good for 40 yards and a touchdown. It was a typical blistering hot Saturday afternoon, perfect weather for the Sooners to wear em down in the second half but it didn't work out that way. Hostetler kept completing long bombs and OUr offense couldn't keep up.

We did win the Battle of the Bands, however. Their guys were dropping like flies in their heavy wool uniforms.
