We went in for my wife's first appointment this morning. She is nervous (as she was last time before the first appointment) and ready for the confirmation that she was indeed pregnant. We get there and go back for the sonogram - sure enough, there it is. About .5 centimeters big (they estimated she is about 6 weeks now). They move the sonogram thing around some more and we can see the heart beating. They hand us the pictures from the sonogram and tell us to go sit in the waiting room and they'll be back to get us for her check up in a few minutes. My wife is now excited, knowing that she is in fact pregnant, and it appears everything is good...

Well, this is where it heads downhill...Her doctor comes in and informs us that the heart rate was low, which leads them to believe that this pregnancy will result in a miscarriage :( They had to set her up for another appointment/sonogram for next Thursday so they can check to see if there is still a heart beat, and if not, they will pretty much just be sending her in to have everything taken care of after the miscarriage. They then informed her that if the miscarriage happens before next Thursday to call them and they will get her in for a check up. Overall, it seems as though her doctor is not expecting there to be a heartbeat next Thursday. If you could, please send out a prayer or 2 for us. It is going to be a long week...

Best of wishes and we'll be thinking of you and sending good karma your way. That baby is gonna be just fine... take it from someone who has been in a similar situation.

Had this problem with my oldest niece. Needless to say, she's my oldest niece. Good things sometimes happen, my friend.

But I'll put in a word with the Chief along with everyone else just in case. Good luck.

Been there, done that. It worked out for me twice, but there were 4 more times where it didn't. :(

I can completely feel your pain and will be most definitely sending prayers your way this week and for longer if it is needed. Please keep us posted either way.

You're all in my heart and prayers. Brother and Sister-in-law were told the same thing. Today, their son flies jets in our Air Force. I hope your child grows up to be just as amazing.

Just hold each other a lot. It makes everything better.

So far everything is still good (from what we can tell anyway). They told her yesterday what would happen if the miscarriage did happen at home, and so far everything has been smooth. Everyone at her job prayed with her yesterday and it really calmed her down a lot.

We are kind of at the point where we think they just have to prepare you for the worst, because it is their job as doctors to let you know what can happen, and to prepare you for what can happen.

7 days is just a long time to wait for something like this...

True. Sometimes a situation looks bad to us, but turns out better than we thought. Sometimes not. Hang in there.
