I may very well be looking at a $4,632.00 situation.

I was told in August that I would be getting a raise in September. I wasn't supposed to know about it but all the paperwork had been signed off on.

I have never seen the raise and asked my manager about my day rate in October. He said that it was the same. And I asked him about a raise then and he said no.

I got my performance review yesterday and I noticed in late August my level was changed from a level two to a level four. That makes sense as to when I was supposed to get my raise. The level fours get paid what I was told my raise was going to be.

I have contacted HR to see what my current grade level is, salary and day rate.

So you're still not sure if you will be getting a raise or what?

1stTimeCaller

yep. That's why I'm asking HR to see what I supposed to be paid. If it's the same number that my manager told me, I'm fine with that, for the most part.

I also don't know what my salary is and would like to know.

I looked into it more deeply and I found that apparently what happened is that 1stTimeCaller was laid off five years ago and no one ever told him about it; but through some kind of glitch in the payroll department, he still gets a paycheck.

I hope they don't correct the problem!!

I heard it was more like a "fight club" kind of thing.

isn't $4,632 just a like rounding error for the year for you oil patch types?

what he's not telling you:
He hated the job that he quit because of $43.65
He loves this job and would take a pay cut to be able to continue working there.

I don't know what I meant by it but I had to tell my manager that I could be in the office this afternoon to sit down with him, the Ops manager and the HR lady if I needed to in order to get this straightened out.

Take counsel with you. I can be there by 3:00 with my standard 65% contract in hand!

$4,632. Is that your salary, your total yearly raise, or what they owe you from Sept. - EOY?

1stTimeCaller
12/6/2007, 02:16 PM
that's what they owe me as a difference in day rates from Sep 1 through the end of November.

Why are you so worried about it? You're just gonna spend it on hookers and crank.

Because that's totally what I'd do.

1stTimeCaller
12/6/2007, 04:15 PM
That cranks not gonna smoke itself and if I can't buy it then how can I smoke it?

I shot my wad coming up with 'hookers and crank'. I'm spent.

I can buy all the crank I want as it is, I'd just like to be able to upgrade to coke.

But why, when crank affords you the friends and sexy chicks with no teeth?

Besides, with hookers, you can almost guarantee there'll be some hawt crank action.

...It's not the $43.65 that's important, it's the principle of the matter. I'm taking the new job.

uh............ how much principle is involved with $4632.00

is there a new job in your future?
:D

1stTimeCaller
12/6/2007, 05:24 PM
yep and I'm using that $4632 as leverage.

You should also read OUAndy1807's post. ;)

A friend got me this job so I'm much less likely to say **** it, I'm out. That would be a crappy thing for a friend to do to another friend.

Also that deal and this one is apples and oranges.
