Okay computer geeks...a bit of a problem here.

I have Vista Ultimate and backed up my computer's HD to an external drive. No problem at all, I do this once a month or so.

I've never tried to restore my comp before using the PC backup but figured I would have no problems.

So, I tried to restore from my hard drive and windows isn't recognizing the backup files present. It's as if there is no backup data on that hard drive.

I'm sort of panicking because all of my class notes and what not are saved there and they're in archive form so I can't just extract them from the backup folder. =(

Anyone know what the dealio is?

What program did you use to back up. Or did you just do a direct copy of the files?

Shutdown the external HD. Reboot. Reconnect the ext HD.

None of the above worked.
The comp came with Home Basic and I upgraded to Premium so I can't downgrade.

god, I'm so screwed.
