I have managed to start 3 books right now. An Oxford History of Germany from 1866-1945, The Longest Winter by David Halberstam (Korean War History) and No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy.

Once I finish one of those I am going to read At War with Trolls(Modern Scandinavian History) and a Modern German history book. (1945-Present)

David Halberstam

I hear he has a kick-*** business card.

I'm leery of reading No Country for Old Men. I'm going to see the movie on Friday because it's Coen Brothers, but the only Cormac McCarthy I've read was The Road, and I didn't enjoy it at all.

I've already seen the movie, so I don't have to worry about that. Also, I believe you are thinking of Marcus Halberstram with business cards

"Factors affecting the identification of independent storm events."

It's a real page turner.

You don't "read" a movie. Duh!

Yep. Nice pickup.

I can't hear David Halberstam without making that joke.

Taking the Quantum Leap: The New Physics for Nonscientists (and other idiots like myself) by Fred alan wolfe. Kindof a layperson's timeline for how we got where we are now with quantum theory (as of when the book was written, probably 10 years ago) I like his analogies and writing style.

"Their Finest Hour" ~ Winston Churchill.
I saw it at a garage sale for 25 cents and couldn't pass it up.

"Good Omens" might be next, one of my daughters left a copy on the table.

I just finished up The Devil You Know by Mike Carey.

I read Good Omens about a year ago. It's pretty good.

Next up is Hellblazer: Subterranean by John Shirley

There's also a stack of comic books I read regularly. But I won't list them.

I read 'GOOD OMENS' based on recommendations here. I liked it and I'm reading the Discworld books now.

Also someone on here recommended Jim Butcher's (OU grad I think) 'DRESDEN FILES.' Still haven't seen it on the teevee.

Mrs. Rogue is into memoirs these days. From those 'THE GLASS CASTLE' was greatness and I'm 1/2-way through 'THE TENDER BAR' and recommend this gem.

Thanks for asking.

The Africa House -- Christina Lamb

It's about an English gentleman who built an English manner house in Northern Rhodesia in the early twentieth century. I must say it's a very interesting read.

Don't expect much from the TV show. I loved the books but thought the series sucked.

Basically, they took the characters and basic plot and left out the humor and action.
