I got to say after following and being a Fan of College Football over 54 years I have no idea or feeling who really is the best team in the country, maybe after this Saturday I will have some idea or "Feel" but the way this season has gone right now I see NO team that has clearly showed me they deserve "The Number One Rating"

Here's the way I see it....
Throw the top ten in a hat - put on the blind fold - a the Winner is...... :)

Still Rockin'

Well, Hawaii of course... ya know they are the only undefeated team in the country. ;)

Missouri is definitely not the best team but they deserve to be #1 because they have worked their way up there.

The 2 best teams, imo, are 2 loss Georgia and 2 loss Virginia Tech. I am not understanding all the sudden this fetish with USC being the best all of a sudden. They are no way in hell as good as last year, 2005, 2004, 2003 and 2002.

After we defeat the best team ever (Missouri) on Saturday night, I would think that would make us the best team.

I agree with the first post, and nothing in the rest of this uber-stinky thread has changed my mind.
:)
This would definitely be a good year to take the top 8 and play them off.

My totally unbiased opinion is the Sooners are #1. :D

The only teams that have a legitimate claim at #1 are Mizzou, OSU and WVa.

Of Those 3, Mizzou has the best loss, and the best win. They should be #1.

Now as to who is the best team, there are at least 8 contenders. You are right, there is no clear best team in the nation this year.

OU at home has been as dominate as anyone.

I'd take USC the way they are playing now and they are healthy for the first time this year. I thank Stanford, my graduate school, for keeping them out of the MNC this year.

tOSU was very consistent all year. It took a perfect game by the 9-3 Illini to beat them by 7. And if Zooks punts instead of going on 4th and 1 on the last drive, who knows. I think an 'SC/tOSU Rose bowl would be very interesting this year, but OU is going to foil that !

A playoff would be amazing this year. Yeah, yeah, beating a dead horse.

VT is NOT one of the best teams out there! They have a pretty good defense, but their offense is offensive!:D

Doesn't matter. Alabama has already awarded itself the National Championship.

I think we should be Nat Champs after the following.
1. We beat Misery by 30.
2. LSU, Wvriginia, VTECH all lose Saturday
3. We beat OSU in the Champ Game.

Maybe we just should have an eight-way tie for first place this season.

tOSU fans KNOW they cant beat OU. Just saying...having spent this beutimous day in the columbus ohio. tOSU is very, very, very afraid of The Mighty Sooners. Not so much the tiggers.

Nobody.

This is the year we shouldn't crown a national champion.

Just hand out some kinda runner's-up prize to whoever ends the season ranked the highest. Nobody has played like a championship team this season.

Now, don't get me wrong -- I'm not bitter, in fact, I've rather enjoyed the ride. This has been the most entertaining season of football I can ever remember following. But in spite of (or perhaps, because of) its amusement value, it has absolutely failed to produce a champion.

Nobody should get the crystal football this year.

I don't know either, but it would be really pathetic if the MNC game came down to the winner of Missouri-West Virginia.

FWIW.....My dad and me have done nothing but watch every football game on Saturday this year. My dad who is not an OU fan...says we're the best team in the country by far.
