The Oklahoma Flag

This is pretty random, but I was thinking of this while reading a story on the Centennial.

I really think the Oklahoma flag would look better if it were a darker blue instead of that ugly *** robin blue color. The light/robin blue makes it look cheap.

Now that you bring it up, yeah it would. But isn't that supposed to be sky blue? Either way, it would still have the thing on it. I'm not a fan of flags with pictures on them. I like abstract flags. Imagine trying to put an eagle on the US flag. No state names, no mottoes, no pictures. And just to **** you off, no more Confederate crap. ;) I'm biased, but as far as state flags go I think Texas has the best design.

If you'll notice though the Confederate flag doesn't have a picture on it.
If you like the Texas flag then you should love the 1st National Confederate Flag.

actually, it's blue because it's the blue borrowed from the flag that Choctaw soldiers carried during the Civil War, blue.

I've always had a thought as to what would be a good Oklahoma flag redesign... but unfortunately, my photoshop-fu is a little too weak. Could one of y'all whip up something based on my suggestions?

It would use the blue background of the current flag on the top half of the background field, red (or crimson, if you want ;))for the bottom half, and the current shield in the middle. No "Oklahoma".

I think it would be a distinctive flag, instantly recognizable, and not only that, very symbolic:

Blue: The wide open skies of Oklahoma, and the optimism of the future
Red: The signature red dirt of the state, the meaning of "Oklahoma" (land of the red man), and recognizance of the bloodshed that occurred in the past
Shield: Need I say anything?

If any of y'all can put my thoughts into picture form, it'd be much appreciated :)

But we need to take OKLAHOMA off of the flag. The shield is distinctive enough without the name and it'll look much better.

True, but convicts, city sewer workers, and hunters aren't typically held up as fashion mavens. Imagine the panic if the oSu football team took a morning run past the Payne County jail. I mean really, of all the variously hideous shades available, why settle on Safety Orange? Do oSu fans do a lot of jogging at night? Do you like to be prepared at all times in case you fall overboard or get lost in a blizzard? Back in the day, did the oSu brain trust go to an Oregon game and think to themselves, "Just like that, but in ORANGE instead of yellow! Brilliant!"
