All-Big 12 Honors Notebook:

* Chase Daniel is the first Missouri player to be named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. Prior to this season, only two other Tigers have received postseason accolades in conference history (2002-Brad Smith, Offensive Freshman of the Year; 1998-Justin Smith, Defensive Freshman of the Year).

* Jordan Dizon is the first Colorado player to receive Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors. The senior was also named the Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2004. Dizon is the third player in conference history to receive both the defensive freshman and player of the year awards (Mark Simoneau, Kansas State- 1996, 2000; Derrick Johnson, Texas-2000, 2004)

* Missouri received more major individual awards this season (3) than it had in the combined previous 11 years of conference play. Kansas equaled its prior combined total with three accolades this year.

* Mark Mangino wins Coach of the Year for the first time after his sixth season with the Jayhawks. He is the first Kansas coach to be awarded.

* Kansas State swept the Newcomer of the Year awards, marking the second time in conference history the Wildcats have taken both accolades. KSU captured both newcomer honors during the 1997 season.

* Oklahoma has won the most major awards in the 12-year history of the Big 12 with 19. Texas is next with 18 winners followed by Kansas State (13), Nebraska (9), Colorado (6), Iowa State (6), Kansas (6), Missouri (5), and Texas Tech (5).

Wow...no awards at all for the most prolific touchdown throwing freshman QB in college football history who leads the nation in passing effeciency virtually all year. Oh, well except for an "honorable mention".

It seems Sam won't care about it but I sure hope his performance Saturday night let's a lot of people know they were wrong.

Oh, well except for an "honorable mention". Yep. Those screw-ups in Boulder and Lubbock cost us big-time in the Big 12 awards, imo. M.Kelly (and OSU's Bowman) on the 2nd team at WR, and only 1 running back mentioned, D. Murray, Honorable Mention. I hope this lights a fire under our guys.

Lofton got ripped off as Defensive player of the year!I can't argue with that since I'm an OU homer, but Dizon is helluva player as well. I would like to see the voting on that one.

Where is Sam Crawford and Patrick Allen on this list? ;)

In all seriousness, Pettigrew is the fourth best TE in this conference at best.

It didn't suck against us; he made every damn tackle I think.

Personally, I think it is a joke that Bradford isn't even in the top 3 QB's in the league. I'm not saying that he should be 1, but he should be in the top 3.

Im not saying Dizon sucks, the guy is a beast but I dont know that he had an impact in big moments of big games like Lofton did

Head to Head
Lofton 16 tackles 1 pass defended
Dizon 9 tackles 1 sack

You don't rack up a lot of tackles when you hold the offense to a lot of 3 and outs.

Total Offensive plays
OU 46 (27 rushing - 19 passing)
CU 82 (46 rushing - 36 passing)

Of those 9 tackles for Dizon, 6 were solo. Of the 16 for Lofton, 8 were solo.

I'm really glad that Lofton is on our team, but I think Dizon may be the best LB in the nation.
