Hey - I'm serious...

you need 12 teams

No need for Championship game if you play a round robin schedule.

you need 12 teams

And in the smaller conferences the teams all play each other every season so why bother?

do they do that in the Big 10/11 now?

i know they do in the Pac 10

EDIT: nope, only 8 conference games, so there are 2 teams they don't play every year

No. They have some goofy-*** kind of rotation in the Big 10. Each team plays its natural rival (or two?) every year, but other than that they rotate. It seems like you can end up playing at somebody else's house two years in a row, though.

It's all so confusing.

I should stick with frisbee golf.

Stoops is dead-on regarding this issue. Either all the conferences should have a CG, or none of 'em.

Yep. :D

If you play everyone in your conference it kind of defeats the purpose (IMO). I agree that it seems unfair that we play a championship (extra game) and some others don't......but then again we don't play every team in our conference every year either (wish we did).:pop:

This year we're lucky we have it or MU would have already won the conference title.

The Big Eleven should have one, but doesn't. They realize that it would just mean another loss for a Big Eleven team, and they have to protect the goods, like OhSU, so they can sneak into the BCSCG.

I just wish we could substitute one of our Big XII North teams for NU every year. That used to be a real tradition. Now with all this ****** BS, we play osu at Thanksgiving. What a crock.

Dumb Question part B:

I thought the NCAA was sort of in control of all of this.

The 12-team rule is theirs.

They can't dictate conference affiliation, and require 12 teams before you can have a CCG.

The BCS talking heads could. Just threaten to take away their BCS bowl tie-ins and make them play for at-large spots.

Everybody should be made to have 12 teams and play a championship game or else nobody should have to play one. Plus, Notre Dame should be made to join a conference, but just not ours. :D

But that would **** with other sports. Until football is completely disengaged from other sports, it's not really feasible.

No one has to play one. The conferences decide to play one.
