If A&M beats Texas and OU loses to the Cowgirls, will Texas get the South Bid?

I wouldn't think so since A&M and Tech would be tied for fourth in the south division.

No... polls will ranks us in.

FWIW... Texas wins.

The correct answer to your question is yes. Winning the South Division of the Big 12 has absolutely nothing to do with BCS standing.

If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 7 will be followed until a determination is made. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.

1. The records of the three teams will be compared against each other
2. The records of the three teams will be compared within their division
3. The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish (4, 5 and 6)
4. The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents;
5. The highest ranked team in the first Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big 12 regular season conference play shall be the representative
6. The team with the best overall winning percentage [excluding exempted games] shall be the representative
7. The representative will be chosen by draw.

Well, really, we can forgive you for being wrong. What would a Texas fan know about winning the Big 12 South?

Looking at the tiebreakers:

After tiebreaker 3, OU would be eliminated based on Tech being the #4 team in the division-they won the head to head vs. A&M.

Texas won the head to head vs. OSU.

Texas wins the South. Blech.

Head to head does not break ties for 4th--that is only done for 1st. A&M and Tech tie for 4th--we have to go all the way down to BCS rankings.

The Statesman would agree with you apparently. (http://www.statesman.com/sports/content/sports/stories/longhorns/11/19/1119textiebreaker.html)

Oh, and BTW, Texas is losing to Aggie South 17-0.

so does the Big 12 office. We both lose, it goes down to BCS standings. But at least nobody got all pompus in here about it. ;)

Why does ESPN.com still give Texas an "outside" chance to win the south?? If we lose to osu wouldn't Texas still be ranked lower in the BCS after the A&M loss?
