Cranberry Sauce is made.. turkey is brining..

So.. the brothers and their kids get in town yesterday... the usual platitudes... then... pounding down 3 martinis at Sambuca...

Made up the cranberry sauce last night (yes.. while impaired)... fresh cranberries... medium sized orange.. ginger.. cardamon.. grand marnier.. sugar...

Turkey is brining in kosher salt.. brown sugar... honey... ginger... oregano...

Wine and champagne is chilled.

Dinner is at 1:30. Bring alcohol...

"The Biggest Loser" ruined canned cranberry sauce for me last night when they revealed that a large scoop contains as much sugar as like six chocolate donuts.

My daughter and I just made the marinated mushrooms.

She's presently cutting the cabbage for the cole slaw (oil and vinegar based, not mayo).

After dinner tonight we'll make a cherry pie and pecan pie. ...and make the cranberry sauce.

Bought the turkey and a spiral-sliced honeybaked ham.

cornbread dressing (stuffing)
mac and cheese
jello
relish tray of olives, stuffed celery, radishes, jalapenos.
crock pot of seasoned new potatoes and green beans
tossed salad of romaine, red leaf lettuce, and baby spinach
w/ baslamic vinegarette dressing
buttered corn
various hot rolls

besides the pies: cowboy cookies and brownies.


I'm contemplating ancho chile seasoned shrimp.


OK, what do you believe I'm forgetting? I'm just not big on sweet potatoes. and no pumpkin pie.

I thought about frijoles, but with the leftover ham bone and scrapes, I usually make split pea soup a day or two later.

All the Mexicans showing up are fully assimilated when it comes to food and a majority have their green cards;)
