No idea, I heard they are doing an MRI on Demarco tommorow.

With a concussion it might be a day to day decision.

I think Sam will probably be cleared to play. His concussion wasn't as serious as some, since he never lost consciousness.

I thought it could still be serious even if you don't lose consciousness.

I played HS football and suffered a concussion--the only way I can describe it, is it's like a bad drunk, they next day you don't remeber much, and wake up with a H*** of a hangover. Come to think of it--That's how I married my first wife.

Seriously, any concussion is serious.

I remember getting one when I was 17 cagefighting. I was in a fog for about a day or two. My guess is that he would be fine in a day or so of course once you get a concussion it increases the risk of getting another one so that is a consideration

BTW...by cagefighting....I actually meant landing on the back of my head after dunking a basketball.

I'd bet he doesn't play. His concussion is pretty serious. If he got slammed the very next week it could either kill him or give him brain damage.

I do concussion research in a research assistantship.

Current findings suggest even the most mild concussion causes permanent brain damage. Unless it is pretty high on the scale, it will not effect him much right now. By the looks of him just sitting there all game, he will be alright to play. The real effects will not be seen until down the road. When multiple concussions happen, that is when things start getting sticky. Just pray it does not happen again.

Even if he does play, if he gets the blocking that Halzle got against TTU, he might only last a series or two. I didn't even recognize our OL at times on Saturday nite.

Hopefully they have some pride and come out and knock oSu in the mouth all day long.

Not true ...

The Associated Press reports former Dallas Cowboys QB Troy Aikman says he has no symptoms from the 10 concussions he suffered during his Hall of Fame career. He does get migraine headaches, but he says he's had them all his life and that they're not related to football.

I headed a soccer ball during a game in high school and got a mild concussion. I don't remember getting hit very hard, but things were fuzzy for a day or so and my balance was off. I had a hangover-like effect the next day, but it slowly went away. The doc didn't really do anything for it at the time.
I feel bad for Sam and I hope he feels better soon.

Take it for what it is worth -- info from a friend of a friend (PC North alum), but apparently Sam's dad is saying he will not play on Saturday.

I sure hope he gets better soon, we're gonna need him for the Big XII Championship game.

If Sam can't play we may not need him for the Big 12 Championship because we may not be playing in it. I don't want him playing if he isn't ready but I hope he can go.

Apples and Oranges. Jason's was medical. You can not even apply for a medical RS until after all 4 years (or 4 active and one RS) of your eligibility are gone. Nichol has burned a year this year. He still has the opportunity to take a RS over the next 3 years. Then, when he has exhausted all of his eligibility, he has the option to petition for another year due to medical issues.

Grade I concussions dont require the player to miss any games, in fact they can come back in the same game provided they are asymptomatic.

I dont think Sam had any loss of consciousness, which is good because that elevates his injury severity significantly and would mean a substantial chance of missing more games.

However he must be having some kind of residual effect or they woulda put him back in the game at halftime. Maybe he had some nausea/vomiting that they didnt report on. Just by looking at him on the sidelines he looked OK to me but maybe he was telling the coaches that he couldnt remember what happened on the field. The trainers have been very tight lipped about what kind of symptoms Sam experienced.

...maybe he was telling the coaches that he couldnt remember what happened on the field.
An article in the paper indicated exactly that. He told Gundy (or Heupel, don't remember which) that he couldn't remember what plays they had just run.

It now sounds like he may play Saturday but your wrong on your facts.

Kansas State forward Bill Walker, who played in just six games as a freshman due to injury in 2006-07, received a medical redshirt from the Big 12 Conference on Thursday.

To receive a medical hardship waiver - in any sport - the injury must limit the student-athlete’s participation to no more than 20 percent of the team’s contests (rounded to the next whole number), with all participation occurring in the first half of the season.

Therefore, for a football player, the maximum number of games that he can play in and still receive a medical hardship waiver is three (20 percent of 11 equals 2.2, which is rounded up to 3), and none of his time on the field can occur after the fifth game (the sixth game of an eleven game season is considered in the second half of the season).

In the case of a 12 game regular season (ie. Oklahoma schedule), none of the player's time on the field can occur after the sixth game. The seventh game of a 12 game season is considered in the second half of the season.

Whites "injuries" was a bad back and an ankle sprain...If you read the posts you ll see I said it was because of injuries..

Thanks
